View Full Version : Coachella Bands You'd Like To Know More About

Yeah, here's the place to toss out a few unfamilliar names and see what the board has to say concerning said acts.

For me? I would like to know more about (and/or album/torrent recommendations):

- Gabrielle y Roderigo (read the RS article, but wonder if they're more like Tenacious D or more like flamenco music)
- MSTRKRFT (by virtue of word-of-mouth seem to be a crazy-ridiculous DJ act, need to know what they sound like in respect to Infected Mushroom)
- Justice (ditto as MSTRKRFT but French and Christian)
- Manu Chao (It's interesting that he sings in three different languages, but I'm still not familliar with him)
- El-P (no clue)
- Digitalism (I figure they're in the vein of MSTRKRFT, Justice, Infected, etc.)
- Hot Chip (no clue)
- The Frames (no clue)
- The Fratellis (no clue)
- Sparklehorse (no clue)
- VNV Nation (no clue)
- Amos Lee (no clue)
- Spank Rock (no clue)
- The Feeling (no clue)
- Tapes n' Tapes (no clue)
- Anthallo (no clue)
- Fair to Midland (no clue)

So go ahead and tell me what you want about the above bands, link to youtube vids of said bands, or, if you'd like, ask about some bands that you're intrigued by and would like to know more about.

The Feeling are a UK pop band who are most commonly compared in sound to ELO.

I'm pretty deep into my research. Explosions in the Sky is a band i'm really starting to like. Never heard of them previously. The New Pornographers, I only listened to Neko solo in the past, Interpol (knew of them never listened to them)

One of the coolest parts of Coachella for me is the release of the lineup so I can start doign research on good music and organize my lineup.

I've always heard good things about Manu Chao but I've never actually heard any music, so I'm rather intrigued.

VNV nation - EBM/industrial dance, but slightly gothish/dark. Check out Empires (late 90s) and Matter+Form (a couple of years old).

Sparklehorse is the name of Lenay D's imaginary imaginary friend on Ron & Fez.

Is that helpful? :)
