Ugh, a few minutes after the created this thread, I got a work email declaring it the Ides of March. So now it's just not cool anymore. I mean, it was only geeky cool before, but now it just sucks.

I dont know why The Ides of March is even a famous term.

So that fool got iced on that day, big deal. There have been plenty of other famous people murders throughout history.

Ides (Idus) just means half month in Latin. There are three named days in the Roman calendar: the kalends (first), the nones (eigth or ninth, market day) and the ides (the halfway point). All dates are reckoned from these days in the typical irritating Roman fashion-- that is, a certain number of days before the next named day

a.d. XVIII Kal. Oct. = 18 days before the Kalends of October = 14 September

I would say that putting your death prophecy on any non-named day would cause too much confusion and not nearly as much dread (Oh fuck, is it today or tomorrow? *goes to abacus to check* )
