View Full Version : The Tet Holiday (or your local band)

03-13-2010, 11:34 PM
Yep, this is happening. Support local bands that involve Coachella board members. For real.

Two shows coming up. One next Friday at a house in Oakland. Info when I get it. This will be our last show til August with our full lineup, cause our drummer is going to study abroad for a long time. The nerve.

Second one = April 11 @ Blakes on Telegraph in Berkeley.
Redhouse, The Postelles, Us, Fever Dream. $8.

03-14-2010, 08:12 AM
You found a house for Friday? Awesome.

03-14-2010, 08:21 AM
Nobody ever comes to Phoenix

03-14-2010, 08:54 AM
ill be at the oakland show

03-16-2010, 12:03 AM
I should have all the details for Friday by tomorrow night. If anyone has questions before then, shoot me a PM.

03-17-2010, 08:13 AM
Can any SF bands help me out with the loan of a drum kit on Fri? It's for Fenech-Soler at The Fillmore (supporting Groove Armada).

PM me - any help much appreciated. Sorry about the mega short notice.

03-17-2010, 08:43 AM
what happened to theirs?

03-17-2010, 08:46 AM
I think they sorted out stuff to use at SXSW and then the Groove Armada dates were confirmed very late.

Should be able to get anyone who can help in to the shows as crew (and I'm sure their manager will buy you a few beers too).

03-17-2010, 09:16 AM
Sent you a Facebook message, but we have to use the kit we have for a gig Friday night. I will see if I know anyone though.

Bay Area residents:

House show TONIGHT. Let The Tet Holiday melt your face with rock.

705 60th St, Oakland 94609.
Starts at 9

Our friends Th Mrcy Hot Sprngs will kick off the show, followed by us, followed by PARTY!!!, followed by Free Kittens. It will be fun. House shows always are. Come see us. It will be worth it, I promise.

03-29-2010, 07:18 PM
Next show = April 11. Our first show where you have to buy tickets and stuff. We've never had to do that before, so we hope people will still come out. I can't vouch for the other bands, but we will be 100% worth $8. Pinky promise.

If you want to buy tickets online, which doesn't make a ton of sense because of the $3 convenience charge that won't exist at the door (http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=1536635)

If I end up moving to Sacramento (which is looking more and more likely), I will forcefully become a concert promoter, so your band is free to play whatever theoretical venue I come up with.

03-29-2010, 07:24 PM
You're a good man Brad. One of the greats.

03-29-2010, 07:34 PM
I'm looking into the financial necessities to start up a classy bar there that only serves beer and pommes frites that can also double as a 200-capacity 21+ venue.

I also want to do a hostile takeover on whoever is booking for "Luigi's Funland" for my all ages venue. The best band that they have booked in the future is Horse Feathers. There is no next best band, because it's all a bunch of crap. I can do better than that.

03-29-2010, 07:40 PM
You might want to serve scotch too, if you want things to get ultra-classy.

I like the ideas. I imagine Sacramento as a musical wasteland, despite the surprising number of cool bands that are from there. You could change that.

03-29-2010, 07:41 PM
blakes on a sunday i can do. see you there.

and scotch is a + in my book.

I would serve scotch, in my theoretical bar venue. However, you'll find that the amount you have to pay in liquor licenses exponentially increases when you go from beer to liquor.

03-29-2010, 08:40 PM
as long as you have something underneath the bar for when I stop by...

03-29-2010, 09:40 PM
I will be there too.

Reminder that we have a show this Sunday, April 11 at Blakes on Telegraph in Berkeley.
w/Redhouse, Fever Dream

I realize you might think "Why should I care about this band, especially when I would have to pay $8 to see them?" I promise we are a very good live band that would be well worth $8. Seriously. Ask people who have seen us.

Anyway, we would really appreciate the support. If you have not heard us before, you can here:

Totally worth the money, folks. Without a doubt!

04-06-2010, 11:49 AM
Thanks again Tet Holiday for playing a show in my bedroom a few weeks ago. It was great, look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

04-11-2010, 09:21 AM
Show tonight @ Blakes on Telegraph. 7PM. $8. Join us. It'll be rad.

05-09-2010, 12:12 AM
Nightphone added to the bill for May 21. 5 sweet bands at a free house show? Win.

05-12-2010, 12:57 PM
Not to stomp on Andrew's nuts or anything, but my band, Acid Tapestries, have a show at the Crepe Place in a few weeks [check my sig].

Here's the FB event for it: Here (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/event.php?eid=116351221733361).

I know Santa Cruz is way out of the way for some of you, but it'd mean a lot to me if you could come.

05-16-2010, 12:16 PM
So that house show now has 7 bands. It is going to slay way hard.

Show starts at 8:00PM.

705 60th St, Oakland CA

Here is the lineup, in alphabetical order.

Craft Spells (http://www.myspace.com/craftspells)
Hazy, vaguely danceable pop. Their first show!

Ghost Animal (http://www.myspace.com/ghostanimal)
Two piece banging out noisy, JAMC type jams.

Magnanimous (http://www.myspace.com/popcornhead)
Keyboard + melodramatic grandeur + lasers + voice like Geddy Lee = Awesome

Nightphone (http://www.myspace.com/nightphone)
Skeletal, to-the-point garage rock.

Palm Yard (http://www.myspace.com/palmyard)
Catchy pop songs transmitted through a reverb-and-noise ocean.

Th Mrcy Hot Sprngs (http://www.myspace.com/thmrcyhotsprngs)
Soulsoulsoulsoulsoul. Delivered with punk volume.

The Tet Holiday (http://www.myspace.com/thetetholiday)
A really awesome band that I may or may not be involved with.

Here is the Facebook event. (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=121582371193248)

Honestly, this show is going to be a ton of fun. You should come out.

05-16-2010, 12:37 PM
Jesus fucking christ, Joe. SEVEN bands!?

That's unbelievable.

05-17-2010, 10:09 AM
Great group of bands we put together, I'm really excited.

05-22-2010, 10:01 PM
Another killer show at Joe's last night.

05-30-2010, 10:41 AM
We are playing The Uptown in Oakland this Wednesday (June 2.) It is our last show for a month or so because two of us are going on vacation, making it hard to play shows or do band things.

Anyway, it is free, so people should come. We can have drinks and be merry.

06-02-2010, 03:11 PM
Uptown tonight. 1928 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland. Across from the Fox Theater.

There is no cover, drinks are reasonably priced, and we slay. We go on around 10:15. So if you are killing time before Why? or have nothing to do, come on out.
