View Full Version : Sahara Tent 2010: Enter The "WHOA-OHHHHH" Chant

You've heard it before on any bootleg from a European festival. Right after a beat gets dropped, rowdy soccer hooligans start in with the WHOA-OHHH chant. It's epic. Just like at 0:33 in this video.

So this year, let's stop sitting idly by while Coachella remains a 2nd tier festival globally in terms of rave tent chanting. In the coming weeks, this thread can be used to identify key times where the "WHOA OHHH" chant would be a nice fit.

Thank you, and God Bless.

Supported. I figure all it's going to take is a solid group starting it a few times during one of the better late afternoon sets on Friday. Then, hopefully, it spreads throughout the weekend. I think it happened for a brief moment during The Bloody Beatroots last year.

Anyway, it's fun. You have my vocal support.

do you think the europeans go and start threads telling each other signs for which to start the chant? No. It has to happen naturally, bro. Naturally

On that note, they use the football matches as training grounds for their deafening chants. You can't just have it happen all at once without any proper instruction.

Having said that, I would support this one hundred percent... if it was plausible, which it is not as stated before.

anyone here catch their sahara set in '03? stunningly glorious. i may have let out a 'whoa-ohhhh' or two.

I caught their set at Coachelle in '03. Really not their best. Kinda slow actually. Darren Emerson was actually much much better with his DJ set the day before. Now the show at the Fox Theater in Oakland was fucking GREAT! One of the best shows I have seen from UW.

i thought they & the crowd had a ton of energy that night. true, the 2003 appearance came on the heels of "100 days off" but the setlist was only partially determined by it (just 4 tracks):

1 Ansum (Intro)
2 Rez
3 Cowgirl
4 Unknown Track (ID#02) (Bridge) "Beep Beep"
5 Kittens
6 Unknown Track (ID#20) (Bridge) "Nimbey Boing Pop"
7 Dinosaur Adventure 3d
8 Born Slippy NUXX
9 King of Snake
10 Mo Move
11 Twist
12 Two Months Off
13 Pearls Girl
14 Moaner

as long as their most recent tour was great, i suppose that's what's important. haven't seen them myself for many years - would hate to hear they're losing their edge.

Underworld live haven't lost a step in the last decade and still go off REALLY HARD, but the crowd at their Toronto gig after the LA debacle was incredibly mellow. Thats one sick video, now what shocked me was that it was during day time as you can see in the final seconds. Think its amazing how dark they got it in there. Why can't we try to get the sahara a bit more dark for the lights.

and this whoa-ohhhh thing is lame, in fact I think if it did happen, I would stop dancing, put my head down. and cry.

It's that dark because the stage area and the entire right side of the tent is closed off. And yes, it certainly does lend itself well to the lighting. Conversely, you can kiss ventilation goodbye.

The Pukkelpop people also chanted something in Dutch that phonetically, sounds like 'oodraey.' Apparently it means bitches or whores. Good times.

Euros annoy me when they do that, why would I want to encourage it at Coachella?

It's not so much any specific chant as it is occasional well-placed chanting in general. Perhaps that's the disconnect? But then again, we are a country of people who need cues to clap at baseball games...

I have no idea why they aren't playing. New album. DMC champs. They're sick as fuck. I would assume that's reason enough.

"Eurbros" is better than "Eurobros"

Though, both are pretty awful. Just like this idea and thread.

Eurbro sounds too much like you have European eyebrows.

Look at Eurbro, completely facemelted!

Eurbro sounds too much like you have European eyebrows.

No, Ryan, Eurbrow would sound like that. You don't make any sense.

Regardless, we're on the same team.
