According to Rolling Stone this morning, the Smashing Pumpkins will be playing alongside Rage, Bjork, and the Chili Peppers.

While I'm somewhat skeptical as no other publications have made any proper mention of them, I live in hope...

Curse Rolling Stone for f*cking with my emotions!

I am having a really hard time believing this one, but I guess there's an outside chance. I'm not going to believe anyone about the Pumpkins until there's an official announcement though. If they are playing, however, I think even the skeptics would have to admit that this is the best Coachella ever.

wow. that would be unreal

that same rollingstone article cites a bogus bonnaroo lineup as fact, so I'm very hesitant in getting excited about the Pumpkins.

that said, maybe they know something we don't know. after all, they're not citing any sources. who knows.

in other news, anyone else having problems using the coachella site/boards? methinks an update is happening.

yeah. it's going slow. and I can only open pages about half of the time.

Braun, it's been painfully slow for me as well. Not sure if there's an ensuing update or if everyone and their brother is trying to access the message board and/or site at once. Let's hope for the former!

was wondering the same thing, but if you look at the main forum page, you'll see that only like 300-350 people are active on message board right now... and then it shows the highest recorded number is like near 500, so whishful thinking but unfortunately i doubt it right now.

the "big" announcement is yet to come, if the same tactic from last year is used, so bring on The Police and Smashing Pumpkins.

01-22-2007, 10:39 AM
the police aren't fucking playing

01-22-2007, 10:47 AM
why not?

When the Pumpkins are officially confirmed, I will break down and weep fat round tears of happiness. Until then, I remain cautiously optimistic.

whew! If Billy doesn't get his lazy ass up and play Coachella I'm going to the Hollywood hills myself and shoving my foot up his ass.

I will go see someone else if the bumpkins are confirmed - yay!

they are not playing... there is no band to play a set yet.

The writer has updated the blog to say the pumpkins are "rumored"

Here’s what’s gonna happen this summer: Just as we suspected they’re going to pull Zach de la Rocha out from wherever he’s hiding and put him onstage at Coachella for a Rage Against the Machine reunion. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bjork, Sonic Youth and The Smashing Pumpkins are also rumored to be potential performers. Then, a few months later, Bob Dylan, The Police, and Pearl Jam will rock Bonnaroo. John Lennon, Elvis, and James Brown will rise from the dead to play encores at both events.
