View Full Version : The David Byrne Appreciation Thread

There were no threads solely devoted to the greatness of David Byrne, so here it is.

He just sent out an email about his upcoming project with Fatboy Slim:

As promised, here is a further update on the Here Lies Love project that Fatboy Slim and I did.

The full package will be released February 23, but in the meantime, since you are on this list, you very special person, you qualify for an immediate free download of one of the songs - "Please Don't," sung by Santigold. To start the download, click on the image below.

I think Santi did a perfect version of this song, which describes, pretty much in her own words, Imelda Marcos' adventures in what she called "handbag diplomacy."

Also - we made a Quicktime version of a slideshow that gives the big picture on this project, and if you want to download that click HERE. If you simply want to view it click HERE.

Lastly, if you're feeling adventurous you can pre-order the various package formats (deluxe, standard or download) HERE. There are descriptions of the contents of each package on that web page.

If you want to make a donation to Partners in Health - pretty much the only medical organization surviving in Haiti (recommended by Win from Arcade Fire) - click HERE.

while I was a little late at picking up "Everything that happens will happen today" I have to say that the song Strange Overtones was one of the best I heard in all of 2009. Also, it wasn't until last year that I finally got to see this amazing man perform. His show at the Greek in Berkeley was nothing short of incredible. Love this guy!

He put on one of the best shows of 2009. The man is a musical genius and a fine performer to boot. Love me some David Byrne.

Agreed. The show at the Greek was my #1 for the year.

Not just a genius in the musical sense, but in the sense that he's indeed a sound artist. Experimental, raw, cutting edge.

Byrne and DP are currently at the top two spots on my haven't seen list. Would love to see him in some sort of TH reunion but his solo shows gets nothing but positive reviews.
