Collie Buddz and Devin the Dude just added a San Fran date for 4/17..
i predicted Collie Buddz would play as far back as May, Devin the Dude just played Smoke Out fest.. it's possible, that one of them will play
oh, and it's a one-off date with none other scheduled.. and it's four and a half months after the end of Devin's tour..

Whoever wrote that blurb is a idiot. "I only know what I've been spoonfed by MTV and radio, and they only fed me one shitty song by this band, so therefore this represents their whole career."

I'll still never understand why they picked Du Hast to represent them. I remember seeing them before that album even came out, and it was my least favorite song of the show.

Relax, sparky. The joke's on you if you take anything off of Buddyhead so seriously as to be utterly butthurt over it.

Devo's fucking awesome though. Now I'm not feeling so bad about missing them here. I'd love it if they went for two nights and played Freedom Of Choice and Are We Not Men for each, but wishful thinking.

SoulDischarge

Fuck. I hope they do the Q. Are We Not Men? set. I'd actually be pretty disappointed if they did an all Freedom Of Choice set, but I've seen them twice before so whatever.

That's what everyone I know who has been tells me....
Your lineups are always so amazing!
I really want to come, but its an expensive trip for a mid-westerner and only the most spectacular will convince my wife that this is something we absolutely HAVE to do....

SDsoldier7

^ what exactly are you referring to when you say "most spectacular"?

Well... for me, it would take a lot less to convince me to make the trip. I have always wanted to go...

For my wife, Daft Punk would be an auto-sell, although I understand that is probably not going to happen despite the rumors.

Convincing her to let me spend the kind of money a proper Coach trip takes is just very a lineup dependent process....

Basically, she will have to look at the list, be super impressed by its quality, and feel like its not something we will be able to catch here in Chicago.

Obviously the last part is the hardest to accomplish because most the bands that play Coach end up in Chicago at some point during that year.

SDsoldier7
10-29-2009, 08:04 AM
you dont know what your missing until you go. you have to see the polo fields where some of the greatest performances of all time have taken place.

as far as the line-up, the least names i recognize the better. i would have never found out about bands like tinariwen, bajofondo.... too many to name. coachella is a more "next shit" type music fest.

as far as the money, you can seriously save a lot of money by bringing in food and booze to the campsite. a lot.

its hard to put a price tag on coach.

Agreed... We definitely feel the same way about Lolla. and P4K is our "next shit" fest.

For us, it really isnt about "saving money."
Its more about being worth the 3-4k cash outflow, and time off work.

We are outdoor people, but I also don't think we'd do too well for 3 days, camping in 100+ degrees.
We'd definitely be talking about a hotel in Palm Springs or a rental house in Indio with friends.

I'm getting really excited to see the lineup this year because THIS COULD BE THE YEAR! WOOT!

I definitely believe you that camping is the "other half."

It's hard enough for me to convince my wife to go...

Telling her she will also be in a tent for 3 days, eating out of a cooler, oh and by the way it will be 100 degree heat during the day and down into the 50's at night... plus we have to share a shower/bathroom facility with a few thousand other people....

I know the camping part of the fest is supposed to be where the party is at, but no matter what I do.... That's just not going to cut it.

try this.... I live in chicago...

Flights = 600ish * 2 = 1200
Tickets = 300 * 2 = 600
Hotel = 450 (for 2 people) = 450
Rental Car = $100
Incidentals (food, merch, party cheetos, etc...) = 700

= 3050

and thats only if I am able to find cheap flights for 600, a cheap hotel for 125 a night, and incidentals dont end up cost over 1000...

Becca,

Why don't you monitor the board and make sure everyone stays on topic? People are just being friendly and helpful to the new guy. We all realise that this thread will get off topic and that is why summerkid has been updating the first post. So if you're interested in seeing who is actually confirmed scope out the first post. You act like it is your job to read every single post. Get a life.

Thanks Love,
JB

Point taken. I just get cranky about that particular debate, 'cause it's a dead horse. Carry on.

I'm getting more excited about the Miike Snow confirmation. Saw him in London last summer but it was early in the day and I was still way to hungover to properly enjoy his set.

Furthermore. It's too bad that Coachella doesn't have the room for a live dance tent and a DJs only tent. Went to a festival last summer with that. It's definitely the way to go.

try this.... I live in chicago...

Flights = 600ish * 2 = 1200
Tickets = 300 * 2 = 600
Hotel = 450 (for 2 people) = 450
Rental Car = $100
Incidentals (food, merch, party cheetos, etc...) = 700

= 3050

and thats only if I am able to find cheap flights for 600, a cheap hotel for 125 a night, and incidentals dont end up cost over 1000...

I'm married, everything is x2, and it all comes out of my pocket.

That's retarded. I'm sorry. I'm from Chicago too and this will be my 5th year going. First of all, why do you have to stay in a hotel? Camping is amazing and only 45 bucks. Where do you figure 700 for food? Are you planning on eating at 5 star restaurants in Palm Springs, buying 1 t-shirt from every band on the lineup, and 8 metric tons of cheetos made out of gold?! I realize you have 2 people, but I spend 100 dollars max on food for 4 days. Tickets are 250 each, not 300 and you can do the payment plan. You have grossly overestimated the costs here.

Currently:
Chicago to LAX = $350 (including taxes and fees) * 2 = $700
Tickets = $300*2 = $600
Hotel = $66/night for a Palm Spring hotel currently * 4 nights = $264
Rental car = $100
Incidentals = $700

= $2364

Also if you consider that you could camp ($45*2 = $90) instead of the hotel, and you should realistically be able to cut your incidentals in half, $1840 is pricey, but doable for 2 people.

The incidentals can definitely be cut to a major degree as well. It's also possible to find a carpool so you don't have to rent a car (although it'd be even better if they brought back the train). That figure is an accurate figure if you're worried about being 100% comfortable at all times. The more you're willing to "rough it" (let's face it, it's really not that bad), the less you'll spend. I'd say I spent about $300 for a ticket that included camping, $300 for a roundtrip flight, and $150 on incidentals (mostly buying food at the grocery store for the campgrounds, eating about one meal inside the actual venue, buying those refillable water bottles, drugs, and a t-shirt). I carpooled with a board member. So my total cost was about $750.

I'd be interested in reading the supposed leaks in the same way I watch Fox News if any one wants to pass them my way.

KittKatt seems to think a lot of big names are playing this year, cant discredit her quite yet... She knows about Ed Sharpe, apparently called DEVO and PAVEMENT, says DAFT"S gunna be show casing their new stage show.... IDK, a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

Guys, stop worrying about it. She posted four small acts that are probably a lock anyway. One was Ed Sharpe...I don't remember the other three but one was either Dead Weather or Dirty Projectors.

Oh, so the acts she deleted were

David Bowie
Scott Walker
The Knife
Kate Bush

And now she says they are all 100%? Ha

No these were all a joke. What she posted was legit but somewhat predictable.
