because they are going to sub for U2/Stones/Etc.

That's how I'd see it too. Supre was right, U2's a good fit. The Stones/The Kinks/Etc., whichever 60s act.

The fact that they're touring and playing Glasto? It's fucking speculation, give it a rest. Does there have to be a rumor or confirmation article associated with every band we discuss in here?

I cared for awhile that Interpol sounded so similar to their records, but I think it's a pretty decent approach for their sound. I wouldn't want them to change anything with their songs, and they play so well.

Here's mine. Prince opened. The infamous show. Great set list but no Paint It Black (EDIT: i remembered thinking there was too much from Tattoo You, which, of course they were touring in '81...that album is where they lost me). I ditched school to go to this show. Took me 3 hours to get to the coliseum on LA's awful bus system.

When I saw the Stones at the Hollywood Bowl back in 2005 they played 'Dead Flowers.' That and Wild Horses made the night for me.

I wish they would play more stuff off of Exile.

Do they play Rocks Off ever still?

Beggars Banquet is my favorite album, if they could play stuff from that I would be very very happy.

And I doubt they would ever play it but "Little By Little" is one of my favorites.

About 2 years ago when they played at the football stadium here in Phoenix,I was ready to give up on the Stones for good, corporate shills/cynical ripoffs etc. and then they launched into Midnight Rambler and a funny thing happened. My little Stones-hating grinch heart grew when he said "I'm called the hit'n'run raper in anger, the knife-sharpened tippie-toe".It grew and it grew and it grew.I love the Stones down in Stonesville, the tall and the small, and the incredibly old.

We would all be there, yes, but you're messing with my heart saying there's a chance...I don't know...Gaga would have toured almost nonstop for over a year and I feel her show might be mediocre at best because of her schedule. I have faith in the Lady though.

I don't think Interpol would be a weak headliner at all. In 07 they sold out the Forum in LA, and if I remember right people were more excited overall for Interpol then Bjork. I know, I know you all love Bjork, but please save the flaming for someone else. I'm not talking about personal taste here, i'm just talking about who had the biggest crowd that Friday at Coachella, and who people as a whole were excited to see. Interpol fans love them like YYY's, and Arcade Fire fans love those two bands. People will travel for Interpol, if there is a strong overall lineup.

Nope, you're right. I waited in that damn crowd all day for Bjork and almost everyone around me was just dying to see Interpol. don't be an idiot. Interpol was already big when they left for a two year break. MSG, Forum in LA, Lolla headliner, and I believe Sasquatch headliner all in 07). Then they go away all of 08, and 09. On all of the Demon Days shows Gorillaz played a set consisting of just their newest album and two songs; one in memorial of a collaborator who died and the other a current b-side. As big as they are I could see Damon wanting to be a subheadliner just for the sake of playing only one album and maybe a few other songs; I doubt he's going to rehearse much/if anything from the last two albums.

That is, if they even play.

If Interpol play, they'll be billed as sub-headliners due to Muse, but by now they're recognized enough for their past accomplishments and consistent records to probably be bumped up to headlining status. It would be a scenario where some would be rather upset over it (think Jack Johnson), but it would be amazing to have them play for that large amount of time into the late night. They've got the material, and they would no doubt break out some gems that rarely got play on the last tour just for the fans.

In Denmark business taxes are some of the lowest in the world and even with the recession their unemployment levels never went above 5%. It is a concidence? No, I don't believe so.

But this is the wrong thread to do this and I really would have to type a thesis to argue my point. So I am going to stop.

Aw come on. This is far more interesting than unsexy photos from Mr. Skin.

my thought is that we shouldn't tax business because they provide a service and that is to provide people with employment. Why hurt those that help the economy? In Denmark business taxes are some of the lowest in the world and even with the recession their unemployment levels never went above 5%. It is a concidence? No, I don't believe so.

Well we agree anyway. We also shouldn't tax people on their labor, which is essentially taxing people for their bodies. Denmark sounds like they have shit in order.

She/He only put Orbital as a confirmed artist because of all the speculation they were getting in that thread here, as in all the craving and pleading and hoping. It was a tactic used to try to build up hope even more, and that person, whether it's Supre or not, will lose all credibility with me if they aren't on that lineup because it will prove the aforementioned point made.

I don't despise her, I believe she has some kind of connection, although it might not be much better than lots of other people's connections. I enjoy reading her blog and she's no bullshitter, she seems pretty honest.

That said, while she's not a bullshitter, I don't deny that she edited her list post-release to make herself look better. She doesn't know even close to everything, but she has something.

Too many put down their last album which I thought was quite the achievement. This new album will be massive.

Have I finally found someone who agrees with me on this point? I've been saying since I heard it how brilliant that record is and practically everyone thinks its awful. I thought it was a gorgeous step in their progression. New album is going to fantastic.

Yeah Bjork is a weak headliner who didn't sell. The only reasons I could justify her headlining over Arcade Fire are seniority and discography.

Why do people say this? The LA Times reported that single-day Friday tickets sold out along with the rest of the festival. Granted, it took longer to sell them compared to Sunday and Saturday and the other two headliners helped, but a lot of people came to her show. I bought my ticket because of her.

The only reason why I'll read "a little" into Little Birdy's post is because Alex Young himself asked the person to e-mail him and maybe that means he heard the same as well. I'm not saying he's the all knowing authority but think of how many other fake lists get posted there and he ignores.

for the people who think they're boring live, do you only enjoy bands that jump around or jam or something?

I just think that unless your music is so technically complex as to require stone-stillness while playing it, then your "performance" is at least a third stage presence and, yes, movement. Watching a still photo of a band while hearing note-perfect versions of album tracks isnt all that edifying, especially in a festival setting.

And I like Interpol. A lot. They are simply dull as milk live.

Coachella Bound

you really think

is realistic? I mean I'm all for it, but I'm not buying it.

Makes actually perfect sense...

Beastie Boys, MUSE, Gorillaz, and Soundgarden.... all perfectly capable of being headliners but also all capable of being stacked as extremely strong subs.

I could easily see friday going...

Beastie Boys/Gorillaz

Saturday indeed being MUSE

and then sunday...

Soundgarden<the Rolling Stones

and then announcing the BOWIE as a late addition for Sat above MUSE... had to throw that in.

I wouldn't go that far chief. Their fanbase is growing by the second and their songs are getting poppier (nothing wrong with that btw). Their short North American tour as well as their entire European tour has sold out. I don't think any promoters will be "taking a bath" on booking Vampire Weekend for any gigs this year.

sigh...you're right. just another indication of how crappy the masses taste in music remains. have you heard their new stuff? i'm not against pop, per se, but this stuff is just shyte. and, their NA tour has been in very small venues, no?

my comment about "taking a bath" was only in relation to the one venue. the Fox (oakland) has had a tough time selling out the past 6 months. a combination of ridiculously priced tix (watch, VW will end up costing >$50ea with all the fees), bad economy and venue overreach with many of the artists. i'll eat my words if the sell out, but i'm betting not.

yup. someone on here called it the "makeout album of 2009." pretty spot on. having seen them, though, it will be interesting to see if they can capture their vibe just the right way at a fest. stage/set time will be key.

EDIT: ^they don't suck, but they are on the fine line between sucking and killing. i saw them in a tiny venue and was right up front. if i saw them at the Outdoor at 2p, my experience would likely have fallen into the suck realm.
