Woah! Fricking Richie Havens! That would be awesome.

I would most certainly go to this if I lived near The Bay... jealous.

So far I'm in for this, don't really care to see Steve Martin play banjo but the rest is awesome!

Gogol Bordello last year was the most wonderful thing I've seen mid-day in the park. There must've been 25,000 people watching their set and every single one of them were on their feet (not sitting on a picnic blanket) and jumping up and down. The scene was unreal compared to some other sets I saw. I felt so fortunate to be part of that experience and it was the best way imaginable to be introduced to that band.

Awesome lineup, but Steve Martin is a douche.

Care to back that up with something besides a blanket statement? Because he seems like the epitome of awesome.

Ardentbiscuit

I love Steve Martin's movies, his stand out, etc.

I have watched footage of him playing banjo and I am not really interested because he just plays Banjo and nothing else.

Oh yeah, COS says these artists were added..

Latest Updates: 6/24 - Confirmed: Robyn Hitchcock, The Flatlanders

He's local and he performed last year, as well.

Check out his Fresh Air interview on NPR. Total douche.

Plus I don't recall him doing anything worthwhile or funny in ages.

that show was so hilarious, because there were a few old people who refused to lift there blankets and lawnchairs and coolers and ended up looking confused and trying to protect there shit while punks were getting thrown everywhere. I was in the very front shouting along and getting my body thrown all around at that show too. fucking amazing

Im going to go to Hardly Strictly Friday and Sunday, and LoveEvolution Parade Saturday. Also, is anyone going to Power to the Peaceful this Saturday? Also, free and in the park. Michael Franti and Spearhead as well as some other good artists and djs are playing.

Im doing the parade, then heading to the bluegrass fest, then to see The Horrors, then out to the afterparties.

Gonna be a busy weekend.

PassiveTheory
09-10-2009, 10:24 AM
I'm probably gonna do the parade (possibly the afterparty?) and then do Sunday of this. Totally stoked to see Amadou & Mariam, Neko Case, Dr. Dog and (to say I saw them) Marianne Faithful and Billy Bragg.

Old 97s vs. Tom Morello Songwriter Circle
Gillian Welch vs. Richie Havens

I'm thinking Richie Havens because he was at Woodstock. I don't really know anything about him otherwise except that song from Collateral.

Also Emmylou Harris vs. Old Crow Medicine Show and Aimee Mann vs. Galactic?

Votes?

rskapcat
09-28-2009, 09:34 AM
Emmylou's voice has gone to shit over the years. If it was a time machine festival, I would vote for 70s-80s Emmylou. But since we're talking reality...OCMS.

thank you, i think i will abide

I think I also am going to try to do love parade on Saturday (but probably not the after party - $90???? and also multiple friends' parties that night so I'd feel like an ass if I skip them all) and bluegrass on Sunday.

Sunday I think is going to be: booker t & DBTs -> jessica lea mayfield -> galatic -> neko case -> amadou & mariam

PassiveTheory

I like your schedule Chia, since it's pretty much identical to mine.

Not true, she played last year and sounded incredible.

I saw her in the late 90s at Lilith Fair and that lovely soprano voice she had was ravaged. Things must have changed since then.

psycobetabuckdown
09-28-2009, 04:45 PM
Maybe she was sick that day? The late 90s were a long time ago.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this conflict? Emmylou vs. Old Crow

I think I'm going Sunday by myself for Neko Case and Dr. Dog...any board members want to meet up?

I'm going tomorrow. The itinerary for The Fro is as follows:

- lil' bit of Booker T
- Dr. Dog
- Allen Tousaint
- Galactic
- Neko Case
- AMADOU & FUCKING MARIAM

See you there. Free hugs for all.
