Mos Def and Madlib together are a match made in heaven. I've listened to this album twice this morning already and it's really good. We need more REAL hip hop like this on the scene these days...

I'm listening right now and it's good. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid hip hop with mostly real beats... Barely any synth Timbaland shit. I suggest listening as well.

Oh shit, the last track is sick. I love when an album ends on a stong note like this. Killer.

Quiet Dog Bite Hard is definitely my favorite track. So simple, but still has me shaking my ass in my chair.

Yeah, that one stood out on the first listen too. Sick track. Maybe I don't listen to hip hop enough anymore, but I haven't heard something this fresh in a long time.

I honestly don't think there's BEEN any hip hop released like this recently. Ahhh.....what's old is new again.

Even Pitchfork likes it... http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/13161-the-ecstatic/

I really am loving this album. I've been listening to it at least once a day this week and it just keeps getting better.

It's a fantastic album and easily his best since Black on Both Sides. Auditorium, Quiet Dog, and Life in Marvelous Times are standouts but my favorite tracks are History and Casa Bey to close the album. I'm really looking forward to seeing him at ACL.

Amazon still has it for $3.99 (http://www.amazon.com/The-Ecstatic/dp/B002B445ZY/).
