A lot of this year's artists have albums based on collaborating with multiple musicians. I am curious as to how some of these artists will translate the studio versions of their work on to the stage. There is a distinct possibility for some one-off, Coachella-only performances.

Some of the artists in question:

NASA
Thievery Corp.
MSTRKRFT
Hercules and Love Affair
Groove Armada

I'm mainly curious about NASA and Thievery Corp., as their entire albums rely heavily on guest artists.

I will call it now... Perry Farrell will definitely do a song with Thievery Corp.

I saw him come out with them at the Hollywood Bowl in (June?), I think they did Warning Shots. IMHO he/they killed it.

Be prepared for awesomeness!

too bad nasa and the yyy's are different days. there would be 2 tracks right there.

live collaborations that always seem likely rarely happen at coachella. there are about 1000 posts speculating the links every year, and they never come to fruition. i dont think the bands realize how amazing it makes the show when crap like that happens. too bad.

For NASA, MSTRKRFT and Goove Armada they are DJ sets so to get the guest vocals all you need is the track because it's just mixing it's not actually being performed.

^Extremely valid statement. But, if these DJs had a lick of sense, they would do whatever they could to get the live vocals from the original artist. I've seen plenty of performances with samples and backing tracks, and it generally ruins the show. I realize every act has their own touring schedule, but specifically in NASA's case many of their guests musicians are playing at Coachella or are based out of SoCal.

Mark Ronson just up and brought along a bunchof his singers along from his album (the dude from Kaiser Chiefs, Kenna, etc). Teddybears did a halfway-solution.. they had the girl from The Start do vocals on a bunch of tracks, and a toaster-mc do vocals standing in for a bunch of different guys on the album.

I really like that song. I'm getting way more excited for Thievery's set, I think it'll be a lot of fun.

I know Paul Weller and Paul McCartney have recorded together and so have Paul Weller and Amy Winehouse. Also, the last time I saw Lupe Fiasco he had a gentleman with him who sang but I forget his name. Kinda looked like the guy from Maroon 5.

You my friend are soooo right to be excited for Thievery!
I saw Daft Punk & Rage at Vegoose which were both Mind Blowing... but the REAL highlight of that weekend was Thievery's Corps. set at the House of Blues... It started at about 1-1:30 a.m. and went till after 4 a.m.
People were grinding their asses off for 3 hours +... till about sunrise.

Like I said Daft and Rage were Mind Blowing, but Thievery was even better.

O.K. I'll be honest their set at the festival the next day was GREAT, but yes DP & Rage were better when compared to that set. However, Thieverys set at HOB... BEST!

I wish I saw them spin at the top of Mandalay Bay the next day. Anybody go? How badly did I miss out?

I'm thinking Murs will be at part of Atmosphere's set, unless he's touring, which I'm too lazy to check on.
