Hello All,

I'm the geek/hacker/photographer/nerd who programmed the coachooser as well as a bunch of other stuff for GV/Coachella. I've make it easier to add your favorite acts to your coachooser right from the lineup page. Just click the Add To My Coachooser link and they'll be there.

Please use it in good health and enjoy!

Also, here are a few of the photos I shot last year for Wired.com:

http://davebullock.com/albums/show/10//Concert

I will be posting some more up soon and will follow up on here. See you guys on the Polo Field in a few months!

your lineup us saved in the same tree the keebler elves live in. I can't explain it, it's magic.

It saves it in a database. It uses a cookie. It isn't magic.

=]

The problem is it will only remember it on the computer you create it with and then only if you don't clear you cookies.

When the set times are released you'll have your schedule all set up.

If you need to go to a different computer, email yourself the share with my friends link and you'll be able to select your choices again quickly.

Not perfect, but it worked for me.

It's a great program but using cookies was a bad route to choose. GV should have set you up with a server or something. Excellent pictures by the way!

Thanks for the coachooser though. It's a nifty little program.

Set me up with a server? Sorry I'm not sure what you mean. It is run on GV's machine. The cookie is just used as your unique ID. Your choices are stored in a database. Without using a cookie we would have needed to force people to do some kind of login which would be annoying.

Eventually we will probably integrate the choices with this forum.

You have some skills dude, some serious fucking skills.

Photography, and programming?

Impressive...

You probably have a subscription to a magazine that has pictures of foreign telephones on the back page too...

If it doesn't work, try going back and then submitting again. It could have something to do with the built in caching on the coachella.com site. I will look in to it if you still have issues.

well I think I tried it like on the 31st, so if it wasn't ready then, that explains it ;) I'll try again and let you know :)

So I marked down every band I plan on seeing.

Is that all it is? Just a guideline of who I want to see

eecue
02-03-2009, 06:58 PM
@Memorial_07 : Until the set times are released yes it is just a guideline of who you want to see. Once the set times are up it will turn into a schedule showing the bands you chose as graphical boxes on a timeline.

As I am now working on an iPhone application, it will soon do a whole lot more.

i'm not choosing until the time sets

eecue
02-03-2009, 07:00 PM
Here is how I use it (I'm weird though so take this with a grain of salt):

1) I open every single band's info in a tab of my browser
2) I go to their myspace page and check out their latest tunes.
3) If I like them I add them to my Coachooser

Every year I find at least a dozen bands I have never heard of that I really like and make sure to check them out. There are some really obscure but dope acts, especially some of the world music stuff that I'm really excited about.

eecue
02-03-2009, 07:01 PM
@gaypalmsprings : yeah I can see that. for me it's always exciting to have my choices all stored so that when the set times are released it's all filled in automatically. then comes the tough part, figuring out when I have to leave a set to go shoot another act!

btw dude, I'm not dissing your rainbow avatar, but that's going to give someone a seizure!

no that other picture is worse and imagine that with the MBV holocaust of noise

and I think the imeem playlist on the coachella myspace is very useful.
I just listened to Anthony and the Johnsons and I'm so psyched to see them.

I wonder what stage they'll be playing at

when i clicked save your lineup it automatically selected all the bands. ?

edit: and reset doesn't reset the form. all bands still have the "choose" radio button selected.

it's also useless to not have all the bands on the lineup included... what the point of that?!

Hell yeah! It would be awesome if you could integrate the alarm so we can have a little 5-10 minute warning before one of our chosen bands goes on. Then you can decide whether to leave whatever band you are watching or not with time to spare.

EEcue - I assume the actual selections are being stored server-side though rather than in the cookie? Like, you're gathering information on what we select, right?

If so, are they going to use this information to determine scheduling? I'm thinking that if there is a corelation between people who choose The Cure and MBV both (for example), then they could try to avoid a conflict. If there is a statistical correlation between people who select Fall Out Boy and DON'T select Crystal Castles, then you can have them play at the same time. Make sense?
