I was excited for LupE.N.D. but now I can't wait for this. After watching some Lupe footage at lollapalooza last year with the live backing band I'm so excited for his coachella set.

Yeah I caught portions of his set at Lollapalooza, Lupe was putting his all into that show. I have no doubt he'll bring the same intensity to the Polo Fields.
Maybe a better crowd, since at Lolla he played right before Rage. Not dissing Rage fans, but that whole crowd was ready for something completely different than Mr. Fiasco.
Regardless, he's a must-see for me on Sunday.

He didn't have a live band when he played Coachella a couple years ago, did he? I remember it being a good set, but it had the classic problem I have with hip hop sets - no live music.
And yeah, pre-Rage fans at festivals are the WORST. I enjoyed their show in '07, but damn, they must give festival organizers a headache. I remember Crowded House had its first show in 9 years or whatever, went on two acts (like 3-4 hours) before Rage, and people were booing and throwing bottles and shit on stage. I felt so bad.

Played a Bonnaroo late-night set with a full band last year. Great show, one of the best of the weekend.

lupe is poopay

no throbbing gristle is poopay. a bunch of pots and pans banging together is not music.

He played with a dj in 2007 (Rage day) in the middle of the afternoon on the main stage and he STILL killed it. Glad to see he'll get a better spot this time around.

Sounds promising.. I've missed Lupe twice before so I was thinking of giving him a look this time.

Here's my Lupe Fiasco video from Vegoose 2007 (featuring the beautiful Matthew Santos)

Lupe's live show has evolved over the years into something pretty remarkable. Caught his 07 Coachella act, thought it was pretty sweet, then he blew me away last year during his second tour. I walked away thinking "damn, THIS is what a hip hop show is supposed to be"

I've seen him with a dj and with a band. Both performances were great, but there's something that a live band brings to the table that puts it over the top.

sounds like im gonna have to see him

I'm always an advocate for hip hop artists touring with a live band, it just adds volumes to normally generic and vanilla rap shows. Good move, Lupe.
