Hey, listen... I'm really not trying to get off on hate here. I guess I'm just getting old or something. Modern contemporary left of center music as we know it (and, for that matter...festivals as we know them) would not be the same without Perry. I feel bad about my vitriolic comments from previous postings. After all, any real Jane's fan could not possibly come away from that experience without feeling MORE LOVE in their hearts...for LIFE, for MUSIC, for CREATIVITY, for THE CELEBRATION OF THE DARKER SIDE OF THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE, ...with all of it's beauty and kaos.

i'm sorry but i just never understood why janes was ever as big as they were. i've always respected him for being an innovative concert promoter/ creator, but as a member of a band, he's awful imo.

Janes Addiction was great for what they were and without Lollapolooza the 1st one(where JA should have stopped and never come back) the festivals as we know them including Coachella wouldnt have had a blueprint or the mass appeal as they do today. Janes Addiction's albums were experimental and sometimes an accquired taste but there was good in them for what they were at the time. They were part of alternative music when everything was about hair bands and bubblegum pop in the late 80s and early 90s. There were other bands just as good at the time in many Genres both rock and hip hop blazing the way for what would become a mass explosion. Sonic Youth, Public Enemy, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Smiths, MBV, Stone Roses, A Tribe Called Quest, The Jesus Lizard, Fishbone, Faith No More, Morphine, Fugazi and many other countless bands at the time were contemporaries of Mr Farrell and his music and what eventually cleared the way for less commercial bands to grab a wider audience. I dont too much care for Farrell solo, Satellite Party, or the second Porno for Pyros album but he still deserves respect as an intergral part of the music scene today.

I'm sure your son is a fine person Ms. Farrell. His music just isn't as entertaining as it was back in 1986.
