0.9.2 was released... It's been 2 long years... But now? Severely improved x264 support has me writhing in ecstasy. I apologize for nerding out. I had to share my joy with someone.

But KMPlayer > VLC

ha ha ha ha ha... no really, they are comparable... But VLC is much more efficient and has better codec support (the exception being Real... but... seriously? garbage). Not to mention the command line support....

For the most part, simple playback is great on either (some people prefer the mplayer interface, but it's a toss up in my mind). For more intensive stuff, and for scripting, VLC runs a hell of a lot cheaper. My last installation peaked at about 70% CPU usage on VLC, but spiked around 95% regularly, and had minor issues on mplayer...

Wake me when VLC can support multiple windows open at once.

it does. I just ran an installation that played 4 separate 1080P videos across 4 monitors (4 fullscreen windows)...

oooh, very nice!
fuck, now if I can find a way to use VLC to stream the gforce standalone to multiple displays simultaneously, my new DJ/rave lighting/background rig is finished!
