i can't find a tent in the size range they allowed in the rules. are they pretty strict on that or do you know where i could find something that's not the size of a damn cathedral?

What size tent can we bring/how much space do we get?

If you are not sharing a tent with anyone else, it may be as large as 7' x 7' (aprox. 50 square feet). If you are sharing a tent with other onsite campers your tent may take up an additional 7' x 7' (50 square feet) of space per person.

yeah i know that but that's the problem i can't find a tent to buy that is made for adults but small enough for one. all i found are 10'x8's and up. i think i'm just gonna make it out of tarp and poles so when i get bored at 2am, i can paint on it.

Try shopping at a camping specialty store. For example, http://www.campmor.com has lots of different options, many of which are reasonably priced.

If you're not a big camper, you can rent one from REI for a pretty decent price.
