This is dedicated to the yum. I want to get some recipies from others on the board. Thanksgiving recipies were a hit and I wanted a place to share favorite foods, recipes, and the things that make you go mmmmmmmmmm....

Here is a cool site on food pairing.

I think there's another thread about this somewhere..but fuck it.

Here's my famous tortilla soup recipe:

4 medium tomatoes, cut up (2 cups)-you can also use canned tomatoes
1 onion, cut up
8 c. chicken broth
4 corn tortillas-ripped into pieces
c. purchased tomato puree or 2 T. tomato paste
6 cloves minced garlic
1 T chili powder
1 T. cilantro
2 t. ground cumin
2 bay leaves
1/8 t. ground red pepper

Puree tomatoes and onion in a food processor or blender. Mix pureed tomatoes and onions with remaining ingredients. Bring to boiling, reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 mins. (Also, I really like lime in mine, so I usually just throw a half of a lime into the soup and strain it out later)

Strain the soup; I lay out the following and let everyone choose what they want in theirs:

Chopped cooked chicken
Cheddar cheese
Sour cream
Diced avocado
Chopped cilantro
Tortilla strips (I make my own by slicing corn tortillas into strips and frying them in canola oil)

Wow, that looks really disgusting, and I bet the person who came up with the idea is so proud...
