yeah, I got section B for the second night. Got on right at 10 for the first night but best I could pull up was Rear C and Bench. They had the tickets available for the second night over the phone before they were up on the website. ZERO signs of section A, or pit, or good B even right at 10:00.

Most likely. Although I always have a very hard time landing pit or section A tickets at this venue.

I called Greek this morning, they have no tickets available whatsoever due to it being the offseason. They told me about a site called www.giltcity.com which was selling section A seats with a poster, but they seem to be sold out now too as well. I completely underestimated Florence at the greek, WOW.

Rats!

Most of the pit is usually held back from the public and most of section A is owned by season ticket holders or reserved for VIP packages.

You guys also have to realize that Florene & The machine are just really, really, really huge right now. If you think an artist is big enough to attract that much of attention from scalpers, you should just realize that thouasands of actual fans are trying to get tickets.

Sure, it's going to be thousands of people that literally only know "Dog Days," and talk through the rest of the set, but still...

L.A. is notorious for bands getting huge amounts of airplay on KROQ and people becoming obsessed with singles and then declaring them to be their "favorite band" and never even listening to the rest of the album

2 sets and an intermission for 12 songs sounds like a bit much, they said in the interview that they don't have any new songs yet either.

So I saw Best Coast and Wavves last night. I had never really listened to Wavves though, so I was there mostly for Best Coast. I thought Best Coast were good. Bethany is really charming and energetic and her voice sounds great live... but they were not able to pull of that really full sound in their recordings. I think if they added a chick bass player who sang back up vocals, it would really fill out their sound. I will still see them at Coachella barring any major conflicts.

But Wavves... holy shit they killed it. So much fun. They opened up with a Black Flag cover and crowd went nuts. The energy didn't die down for a second either. Like I said, I have never listened to much Wavves, but I am going to now. That set was just too much of a blast.

The opener No Joy were pretty good too.

I don't think they had anything for Interpol. One of the best things to use the Gilt sites for is Jetsetter. It provides discounted hotel rooms in places all over the world. Great to look into if you have a show out of state because you can find really nice hotel rooms for relatively cheap. Example would be getting some of the themed suites at the Palms in Vegas for I think it was $300/night it was probably even cheaper then that.

they opened with that black flag cover at soma in san diego too. They're really awsome live. At soma towards the end the stage was filled with kids who jumped on and were just dancing and having a good time, the band dug it. Best Coast that night was slacking, I'm going to the show this next Thursday at the fonda though so hoping for a better performance from best coast. I know wavves will be a party again

Not all by ticketing agencies. They have a season subscription service. You buy X number of shows, get Silver, Gold, Platinum level and each year you subscribe your seats get better and better (i'm assuming cuz people stop subscribing, you move higher up the totem pole).

People that have been subscribing for years get the best seats. I have a friend that has been a subscriber for about 7 or 8 years now and he gets front of section A tix all the time, but mostly on the side (this is only the last 3 or 4 years though). He said he started out getting front of Section B/Back of Section A. Maybe in another few years he'll actually start getting some in the front/center of Section A.

Theyre playing bigger outdoor amps in other states, so not really. Starlight and Woodlands hold 20k+. And Im sure itll sell very well considering they arent charging an arm and a leg. Phoenix is $50 after fees. You figure $25 lawn tickets will be very enticing.

I saw The Church this past Sunday doing their 3 album tour. They put on a great show. I'm just a casual fan and only know Starfish, but I found myself enjoying alot of the later work too. Highlights for me included Blood Money, Lost, On Angel Street, Chaos, The Disillusionist, Destination, Milky Way, and Reptile. It was a really cool experience to hear such a catalog of music performed in such a manner. Definitely a much older crowd, nearly all of whom looked old enough to be my parents. We got there halfway through Untitled 23 and stayed until 1 or 2 songs left of Starfish.

Holy fucking shit. Man or Astro-man? were fucking insane tonight. An early contender for show of the year, without a doubt. Also the loudest show I've seen since MBV at Coachella, louder than A Place to Bury Strangers and Fuck Buttons by a considerable margin. They played for just under an hour, I was going off the whole time but the crowd seemed to just stand there. Oh well.

The Octopus project had their moments as well. The first few and last few songs they played were fucking outstanding, the ones in the middle were pretty meh.

Surfer Blood fuckin rocked!!! Super fun way to see them for the 1st time ever! Tiny ass place, 200 people or less.... lots of issues with cops and how loud it was...but they rocked the place despite the pressure of having to hurry up really...

The Dallas venue holds ~1500 people, iirc. (Re: Beirut)

The Austin venue is new, so I don't know anything about it other than that capacity is ~2700. While it's the new location for ACL tapings, not all the shows there will be taped for the broadcast.

I actually might. Get back to me the week of the show.

Also here's that present for the crazy Raveonettes fan in your life. It's actually an interesting idea, a Disneyland-like annual pass for concerts.

They never even checked a list. We walked up and handed them five bucks and they let us in. Fairly empty. I wish the crowd was moving more, but they sounded fantastic. It was a ton of fun. Talked to the drummer and the singer afterwards. Drummer was super nerdy and awkward. Lead singer was really laid back and we had a nice chat. He kept giving me a once over.

Also, my name is on the list at the Lykke Li session. Do you get a +1?

Forgot to mention that Cake was pretty kick ass on Saturday night. Band is super tight and John McCrea is a crazed ring leader who choses his songs at random and demands the attention of the audience with no camera/cellphone interruptions. As he said, "Cake are an old fashioned kind of group." Great mix of songs from every album, even a bunch from Motocade which was awesome. They went on around 8:15 and took one intermission to end at 11. Pretty awesome night.

They're set:
Sad Songs and Waltzes (Willie Nelson cover)
Opera Singer
Stickshifts and Safetybelts
Arco Arena
Frank Sinatra
Ruby Sees All
Long Time
Bound Away
Mustache Man
Sheep Go to Heaven
Rock 'N' Roll Lifestyle
----Intermission----
Mexico
Federal Funding
Shadow Stabbing
Wheels
Haze of Love
Jolene
Sick Of You
Never There

Encore:
Short Skirt/Long Jacket
War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover)
The Distance

I'm pretty sure it was getbetter (?) who said they were one of the worst concerts he has ever gone to, and I can TOTALLY see it getting off the rails very quickly. I feared for my life taking a picture, and can only imagine John going crazy on the audience and ruining the whole show. Definitely feel that I lucked out big time. Would recommend anyone checks them out if it was at a small venue where the security could control the electronics per the band's request.

So my band has two upcoming gigs we are quite stoked about.

The first is this coming Monday with Gobble Gobble. These guys were on Pitchforks "Most Promising Bands of 2011" list. I have seen them live before and they are fantastic.

The second is two Fridays from now, where we are playing a ~600 person venue opening up for this band called 100 Monkeys. Apparently one of the dudes from Twilight is in the band or something. This will definately be our biggest show to date.

The only way to buy tickets is in a pack of all three days, but we only want to go to Sunday, so our only option for buying single day tickets is from Denver's Craigslist. According to the FAQ there are NO single day passes for the event, so if anyone claims to be selling them they are lying.
Man, that really throws a wrench in things. I was hoping that they got three tickets; one for each day. Oh well.

have any of you LA people seen Helen Stellar perform? i've been curious about them for the past year or so and see that they released their debut finally (albeit last year). i sense that they may break soon. musically, i really dig them, but i'm still on the fence about the singer's voice (just a little too polished/mersh for me...i prefer a bit more grit with my shoegaze).

anyway...just wondering if anyone has any feedback on their live show.

Well, the other 2 times I saw them, they put on good sets....this is all ballad crappy shit now...

Pretty good production....really worked well for The Prodigy ;)

Their new fills for Poison and Run With The Wolves and Diesel Power were incredibly heavy! Watching Liam really rock it and play so much of the stuff live was impressive... Smack My Bitch Up was a big highlight too, getting down on the ground, then when the song kicks back in 'everyone' going off....all 10 people.

I was at a Sharks game last week and they advertise concerts in between periods and stuff. I immediately tuned the ad out when it mentioned Linkin Park, but then they said something about the Prodigy and I was like "Wait wait wait. What the fuck?" I can't believe the Prodigy are on tour with Linkin Park in the US. What a fucking bummer. I would love to see the Prodigy at some point, but I'm not willing to shell out money to see them with Linkin Park. Lamesville USA.

O FUCK YES !!!!!!!I believe this will be their first North America tour

Mouse On The Keys We know the tour in March is quite short but we have some particular purposes to do that which you might will know later.

We promise the next UK/European tour will be the long one, to visit much more cities and countries.
Also we'll keep trying to find the way to tour countries of north & south America, and Asia.

Thank you guys who insisted the cities you recommend.
We'll keep all those in mind for the future plan.

Adele is already pretty huge over here (both her albums are in the top 5 after her Brits performance). She's not really my cup of tea, as the songwriting is a little bland, but she has an amazing voice.

I had a Wiltern ticket, and I'm pretty pleased about this. If only because I accidentally bought a reserved seat and none of my other friends managed to get tickets.

So hopefully now they all get tickets...

Granted, I've yet to go to a show at the Wiltern since moving here (will be going to Royksopp) so don't know what the difference will be like. I have been to a sold out show at the Palladium though (first night of the Faith No More dates) and was pleased at how the place didn't feel packed in for that night. So this is all kinds of good news from my perspective. (and it's not like the Palladium is some massive place where you'll be fighting for good perspective anyhow)
