Andrew WK also produced the latest Sightings "Through the Panama" record, which is completely badass.

The performative aspect of his career is much more interesting to me than the vast majority of his music.

They didn't do presale for Thurston show. This is the first one they've ever done presale for, and I imagine it'll be amongst the only. Not how they roll.

they're very similar to the Che in how things are run...well, the Che copies them basically...while i was there only two shows had advance tix sales...Billy Corgan and The Locust...

the fucking Che though, those fuckers voted against a Myspace Secret Show with Against Me! and another MSS with No Age...only 4 of us voted for and were HIGHLY outnumbered due to fucking Rupert Murdoch...

be advised that there is no alcohol served at the Smell and the owner is pretty serious about people sneaking any in now (used to be a bit of a problem) or around the venue in the alley.

There is a little Mexican bar around the corner that's cheap though

just so you know PTA, Manny said they are touring extensively in 2010. I wouldnt be suprised if they showed up in the polo fields next april. Daryl also hinted to coming back here soon next year. I would just hope they printed some limited edition shirts for the date. They seem to be doing it for each solo stop now. The Texas one was the colors for UT.

Yep, both so cal dates. Sorry, no photos, too busy in the pit for once. If you had pre ordered tickets through GJ's site you got a special screen printed shirt, thats what I am referring to. They were themed for sports teams. Sf was the Giants. Mayan was the Lakers, Pomona the Dodgers.

It had better not disappoint. He should've never had "Beating Heart Baby" or "Graduation Day" added to his résumé. My spleen almost burst when I saw the BHB video premiere. That's like Dustin Kensrue taking time away from Thrice to record some Europop record, which I doubt he'd ever do.

Her second album (as an adult) is a collaboration with Beck, and while she loved having him take control of the project, it's that same lack of control that prevents her from wanting to sing the album live. Currently she's back in Los Angeles, working with Beck and his band to figure out how to play their new songs in front of an audience, or if that's even something she can do. "I really want to be able to do it, but it has to be a pleasure, it can't be a terrifying experience," she says. "I love the songs, and I love singing them, so I just have to find that pleasure again."

(For real response: Sorry.)

I got tired of hearing about it all over and decided to just rapidshare it. Will watch later tonight.

So more tour dates are surfacing, including a third in New York, which is weird since the first two aren't sold out:
1/19-20 The Bell House - Brooklyn, NY
1/23 Hiro Ballroom - NY, NY
1/25 9:30 Club - Washington, DC
1/27 Institute of Contemporary Art - Boston, MA
1/28 Olympia Theater - Montreal, QC
1/29 Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto, ON

I think the 9:30 Club's capacity is equivalent to the combined total of the three NY shows plus the Boston show.

you sign up, get on the list. They overbook it so it's first come first serve, but from what I hear you generally don't have to get there SUPER early.

It's up to the bands how long they want to play. Some bands play a couple of songs, some bands play for over an hour

The taping's free, you don't need to buy anything. Just register with 1iota.com, select how many tickets you want, and confirm your selection in your account (if you don't confirm, they may have temporarily run out or it's on hold for some reason -- in this case, you'll probably have to keep checking back if/when they release more tickets). In terms of "first come, first-served" it's general admission standing, so people line up early if they want to be front-center.

For the show, they usually tape 1 complete song and another one played during the closing credits. For the audience, artists/bands usually play an average of 6 songs.

My wife loves Cake. That had a lot to do with the initial ticket purchase, but I made a play list of the songs they have been playing, and I forgot how much I like them. The last time I saw the was at Outside Lands, and they were great.

Atlas Sound really blew me away tonight (or last night?), it wasn't anything I was expecting. He played completely solo, sitting in a chair, with only an acoustic guitar and his voice, using a loop pedal and his typically gigantic range of other effects. And musically it was just stunning. Did a lot of the Logos numbers, and a couple others, all of which were completely born anew in the live setting. Tune-Yards were a great surprise for me as well, I also was not expecting such a fantastic show from her.

The Natural History Museum was awesome... wasn't planning on going to that Yeasayer show in a month, but now I think I'll have to. Luckily my friends took care of the parking for me too. Everything ran really smoothly, and the setting was the coolest.

I don't know if 'Cross The Breeze being on pretty much every set list of the new year and a few before means it's incredibly likely they play it tonight or it's more likely that they drop it for a different song, but I really fucking want that tonight.

You pretty much had the exact opposite experience I had. What time did u get there? They weren't letting people in the hall where he was playing and there was a massive line up. So I ended up watching in the main T-rex area from a projection on a wall. Absolutely miserable, we left a few songs in. The songs sounded good, but there is no way in hell I was watching a wall. I would never return to see a show there on friday nights, unless you could guarantee entry to the concert hall

Phenomenal show tonight, better than the Fox show last night by a good bit. And last night was excellent.

The heavy part in 'Cross the Breeze really just made me glad to be alive, it was one of those moments. The non-Eternal songs in the main set were better than last night, especially Hey Joni. Great stuff.

Thurston & Lee & Kim & Steve & their Pavement pal were lovely tonight. I must say, I really dug the way it was dominated by The Eternal. Even though I find it to be one of their weakest albums (not saying much), with a catalogue of songs as vast and diverse as Sonic Youth's, it's really nice when their setlists have a nice running theme to them so that all of the songs sound good together -- and so for that, it might as well be their most current material for which the band is most psyched to play.

But with that said, The Sprawl and Shadow of a Doubt tonight easily made the $50 ticket worth it in and of themselves. My jaw dropped!

Yeah. You can always tell which songs they're most excited to play and it's usually the newest stuff. When I saw their Daydream Nation show at the Greek they had almost no energy until they played the encore full of Rather Ripped songs.

And I've only listened to Bad Moon Rising once, but really didn't care for it. Need to give it another spin this week.

Dude. It's one of my fav SY albums. "Brave Men Run", "Society is a Hole" and "Death Valley 69." Killer.

Part of me is so happy to read this and see that, yes, my dream is coming true, I really will get to see Deerhunter at Coachella this year.

But then I'm so sad I can't catch this lovely little tour on its own somewhere. It's just too good not to. Oakland road trip, perhaps? I don't know...
