View Full Version : My cousin died...

...yesterday while serving his country in Iraq. Rest in peace Michael.

I never thought much about this war until today. Even though he died doing what he loved, I'm still unsure if he died for a worthy cause. After I heard the news, I drove home crying my eyes out, repeatedly punching the steering wheel of my car.

We see all these pictures of soldiers who die on the news. I never thought that it could be the one and only Marine I cared about in the whole country.

Michael is pictured on the right. Even sadder, his brother Vincent on the left, committed suicide last November. May they both rest in peace.

Condolences mate, that's a lot to go through. No one should have to suffer that.

What a terrible loss. My condolences to you and your family, man.

We always hope that they all come home safe. We talk to each other and convince one another that a week's silence just means they're busy, but you can't help but be relieved when finally calls. Each of us thinks, afterwards, of what life would be like if he never called again.

My thoughts are with you.

Sorry for your loss Californiator.

I'm in Washington attending a funeral this week. Not really good at handling death. I walked into the funeral parlor this week and what do they ask? They ask me to be a pallbearer. I've been drinking heavily ever since. I need to slow down before flying out tomorrow.

Be proud that your cousin gave his life serving his country.

My thoughts and condolences are with you and your family, bud.

We need to personalize and mourn every soldier's death way more than we do. When the 6 o'clock news reports that 45 "troops" died today in Iraq it makes it so much easier to forget that they are people with families and friends...

I'm really sorry about your loss, at least he died a brave man fighting for his country.
