ATTENTION ROCK BANDERS:

amy & i both have busy schedules next month, but have found a free weekend on friday the 17th and saturday the 18th... i tend to prefer saturdays, but i am open to whatever the group wants :)

I will be starting my permanent-ish schedule the week following, and therefore I should have a 3 day weekend that week.

However, I still might go to Devo/Primus/Weezer on Saturday. So my initial vote is for Friday. A ticket has not been purchased though.

How come you guys only got to 112*? The news just reported 122* here in Indio!

Phoenix and Indio are actually different geographical locations.

I voted against Margret Whoever simply because there was a guy standing 3 millimeters outside the 75 foot limit harassing people on her behalf.

Margaret Dugan campaigned for the Superintendent of Public Instruction postion on an "English-only" platform. Hispanics, it seems, do not deserve to learn.

Calling all happy hour attendees...

What are you up to Friday after work? I have decided I need more time with my coachella friends. Also, it is Marc's first paycheck from his new job and according to the happy hour rule book we must drink to the occasion. Who wants to join?

Did my civic duty to vote against Hayworth and anyone named Flake.
hahaha! That was my policy too. I'm sad that Rick Romley was defeated (actually I only voted for him cuz I know he hates Arpaio/Thomas), but at least McCain beat Hayworth. I'm hoping Tom Horne pulls ahead of Andrew Thomas. urg.

I get off work at 330 so early works for me. I also invited my girlfriend Lisa to come out and Adrienne. I can't stay too late because I have a birthday party to get to but we could meet up wherever you like around 4ish and have a few drinks. So I was in a car accident last night. Driving 50-55 on the I-10 west, about a quarter mile east of the 59th Ave exit. Everything was going along smoothly and then the lady in front of me just braked suddenly. I thought I was a safe enough distance behind her but either I wasn't or my brakes aren't that great. I just barely tapped her -- her tailgate had a very minor scratch, and my front bumper looked only slightly worse. We pulled off to the shoulder just off the HOV lane. She was fine, saying she was just a little shaken up. She said that she had to brake suddenly because the two cars in front of her did the same thing, and there was smoke coming from their tires, too. I fucking hate that, when cars brake suddenly but then they just start going again, like there was no real reason for them to have stopped in the first place.
So anyway, I don't think she'll be the lawsuit type. For one thing, she stated on at least 3 occasions that she was uninjured. She said this to the cop as well. She called her husband, who showed up a little while later & asked if she had whiplash. She said point blank "no," only stating that her back was a little sore because she tensed up "the way [she does]."
The citation I got was for failure to avoid a collision. The cop asked if I've ever gone to traffic school. I told him yes, back in '98. He said, "Oh, then you'll get this thrown out." Guess I can even take the class on-line. There goes, what, $100? Could've been worse.

Car drove like shit today, though. Think I fucked up my tires in going from 55 to 0 in 5 seconds. Dammit.

When I used to go to bars more often a good patio was very important. I spend a great deal of time outside at bars. The patios at Long Wongs on Mill and the Last Exit were my favorites. It's a shame I have to say were but they are gone and I don't really go to bars much anymore.

The place is just awkward to me. its definitly a 3:1 ratio male to female. Its got this vibe of we are all soooo hipster we only talk about music you have never heard... If you have heard of it then we dont like it. Its the , we are cool because everything we like is obscure, standpoint. We all wear a different color flannel and put our keys on our belt loops. It is pretty good, great beer and food. I like the little patio, although I haven't been there in about a year. I recommend the vanilla porter. YUM

Head a couple more miles east and a mile or two south and you'll hit the Dubliner. Translation=38th st/Thunderbird.

It looks like Tony Cummins will be performing there on September 24 or 25; we should all try to make it out for that. He's a crazy Irish drunken folk singer; he goes on around 9 and by 11, people are taking their clothes off, dancing on tables, throwing shit at the stage. It's fantastic.

Fun fact; the 24th is the Pixies and the 25th is RATATAT.

Fun fact: I live right by Rosie McCaffrey's.

Fun fact; I've been kicked out of this bar multiple times, but they still let me come back. You should also check out Padre's just east of Rosie's.

Dylan, you live in my old stomping grounds before I got married. I have multiple friends that live still live in that neighborhood so I spend a lot of time around 16th St and Camelback. You should check out the new Vig near 16th St just north of Bethany Home Rd. It's rad, and Tom Chambers was chillin' there. My little sis went to the Vig last Saturday and Tom Chambers was there too. I think it is one of his favorite hangouts.

Would you mind telling me a little bit more about this place? I only seem to notice it at night, when the sign is lit.

I know, I remember you recommending this area almost a year ago before the last time I moved. Well, that stint is over and I moved again, and I must say, this is by far my favorite location yet.

Padre's is a Latin bar/resturant with a great happy hour, cute servers, and way cool owners and staff. Mean mojitos from scratch, killer tequila list, Latin bands playing on Friday and Saturday nights. Take a walk in there sometime.

I love Ratatat, but $23 plus fees? Who do these guys think they are? I know it's not the 1990's anymore, but I saw Nirvana at the height of their career for twenty bucks. Either these bands need a reality check or I need to accept shows are just going to be inappropriately expensive.

I think I might go see "The American" at the movies tonight. There isn't much else out that looks good or that I haven't seen already.

They gave me balloons at work today. It's my 4 year anniversary at Wells Fargo. My division keeps getting smaller and smaller because of downsizing but I'm still here.

Ratatat was awesome at Coachella 07; somewhat lackluster at Daft Punk LA. Kinda lackluster opening for Bjork in Vegas too. Hmm.

Ha! No I didn't see the poster. That whole show was a bit of a letdown, actually. I was so hyped up to see them again after Coachella, and I dunno, it seemed like an off night for them or something.

Maybe they're better in a small club setting (or a small Coachella tent) as oppsed to a big arena....which tips the scale back to maybe.
