You're the second person in consecutive days to mention Frightened Rabbit so I'm going to have to do some research on them.

My #1 for Friday is Fever Ray, followed closely by LCD Soundsystem. Rounding out the day are Grizzly Bear, Echo and the Bunnymen, Public Image Ltd (more to do with Jen's excitement over them), La Roux (just bought their album yesterday & like it), and Passion Pit (though we did just see them in December). Barring conflicts, I'll also be interested in checking out Them Crooked Vultures, Deadmau5, The Specials, Grace Jones, & Yeasayer.

My #1 for Saturday is a toss-up between The xx and Dirty Projectors -- I like the xx album more, but have heard not to get too amped about their live set. Also: 2many DJs, Gossip, Sia, and Devo. Will probably catch at least a bit of The Raveonettes, Bassnectar, Flying Lotus, and Craze & Klever. Conflicts permitting, Dead Weather, Hot Chip, Faith No More, and MGMT to see if they don't suck live anymore.

#1 for Sunday is Orbital followed closely by Thom Yorke. My worry is that they'll conflict, at least in part. Or that Orbital will conflict with Gorillaz, who are my #3. Sunday is just so stacked, I wish they would put some of the upper tier stuff on Saturday. I'm also eager to see Sly and the Family Stone, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Deerhunter. I'm tempering my hopes of seeing Spoon, De La Soul, Gary Numan, Yo La Tengo, and Infected Mushroom because I'm figuring they'll conflict with the heavy hitters at night. Won't be crushed if I miss Phoenix since I'm seeing them next week, but if it works out, great. Will probably also see Yann Tiersen (love the Amelie soundtrack), Owen Pallett and Miike Snow.

Your lists are looking pretty, pretty good, Rick & John. I created a list thinking I can see about 8 full sets each day. We'll have to see if there are set time conflicts but for now I'm thinking...

Friday - Fever Ray, Grizzly Bear, La Roux, LCD Soundsystem, Little Dragon, She & Him, The Avett Brothers, & Them Crooked Vultures.

Saturday - Camera Obscura, Devo, Dirty Projectors, Faith No More, Hot Chip, The Almighty Defenders, The Dead Weather, & The XX.

Sunday - De La Soul, Gorillaz, Jonsi, King Khan & The Shrines, Pavement, Phoenix, Sly & The Family Stone, Thom Yorke, & Vampire Weekend.

I like La Roux's and Little Dragon's albums, should be cool to see them live. I only have the latest Avett Bros album but I really like it and want to check out their earlier albums. I'm curious about what is going to happen with Sly on Sunday. He's done a few shows in the last couple years but all the reviews have been pretty bad. They say he always goes on late and doesn't really play the songs the whole way through, he'll get up and leave the stage and let the band play most of the songs and then comes back on, weird. I hope it's not a trainwreck. I'm also excited to see what kind of guest stars the Gorillaz will have. Should be sweet!!!

Two 2many DJs downloads in one day makes this 2many DJs Day. Thank you, karma guy.

I have a hunch that if Sly & the Family Stone don't cancel, they'll play right ahead of Thom Yorke on the main stage, a la Willie Nelson playing the late afternoon slot on the main in 2007. I hope that if such is the case, it isn't a train wreck. At least when the Happy Mondays were a mess, I had no reason to stick around their tent for any longer than the 15 minutes that I allotted myself to see them.

The thread is about the city because folks live in the metropolitan area.

To make things interesting - in a matter of speaking - the band are playing here - though, technically, in Tempe - next week, which some folks find amusing, worth going to or both.

Shortly after folks will skip right over Bowerbirds/Julie Doiron and switch to talk of St. Vincent, though unless I get out to get my tickets soon I will likely end up slyly mocking that talk as well.

What the fuck is going on lately?

The lineup came out, Prelude; that's always a siren call, luring folks to crash on our rocks.

RA Sushi
Bison Witches Bar and Deli

I didn't expect to when I saw it and I certainly didn't know it was going to stand the test of time and it has. I even love watching the bonus footage about the costume design and filming locations. It was the main reason I also wanted to go to Prague.

My 2nd favorite movie of all time........Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I already have tickets to the PSO dates; I am taking my parents to the Mozart for my father's birthday (late present) and going solo to the Beethoven and thus would be more free to meet up before/after/etc.

Also: The tickets I got are great seats (face was $62/$72) but they cost me $30 a piece because I bought the 4-pack of vouchers, where you call when you pick what show you want to go to and get the best seats available.

I'd certainly be in if folks wanted to get together for, say, Beethoven's 3rd on Friday, April 2nd.

The first movement of the 3rd:
FFltqVS8d9I

But, really, I love the Mozart and I won't dissuade folks from going to that. And, honestly, if folks wanna go on the Saturday I might be able to be persuaded into seeing it again.

Also the most famous/recognizable/best part of LvB's 7th is the Allegretto:

What's your guys' problem with the Eagles? "Love Will Keep Us Alive" is a seminal track for me. Prior to that, I listened primarily to gangsta rap and got bad grades. The Eagles helped me turn my life around.

And I used to scoff at the Jonas Brothers, and some of their songs are still a little cheesy, but Jennifer's daughter has been playing the Nick Jonas and the Administration CD in the car whenever we have family drives and I have to confess, the young Mr. Jonas's recent Elvis Costello phase has really paid dividends for his songwriting abilities.

Well, fuck. I left my keys in the hotel room in San Francisco. Getting them FedEx'd to me so I can go to work tomorrow (my car's stuck at the Sky Harbor airport) but this means I can't make it to the Phoenix show tonight. PM me if you're interested in my ticket.

Rick, I think Dale Gribble was looking for a ticket.

How was your weekend, Amy? Did you do anything fun in the valley of the sun? I took Connor to the Tempe public library. That place is pretty cool, I had not been to a library in ages and we got library cards a couple months ago. Teaching him how to look up books on the computer and then hunt for them was fun.
We just did family conspicuous consumption things -- went shopping and stuff. On Saturday night we stayed in and tried out the uhh stuff I accidentally sent through the laundry, and it worked. Mild trip.

I fully expect someone to take a drink of their beer and pour some of it out on the ground for me, your dearly missed homie.

BTW, someone go into the Phoenix thread in the main forum and laugh at what I posted in there. I didn't want to bring any attention to it but it's been a fucking week and no comments have been elicited.

I missed Sea Wolf, but Phoenix was yet again stellar. Third time seeing them, but the first since 'Wolfgang Amadeus...' was released, they really beefed up their sound and it seemed they were riding high on their Grammy win. I'll definitely try to catch them again at Coach.

So fasttrack you were in control of all the people on stage at the end of the show?

That may have been the best show I have seen at the Marquee Theatre since it has opened.

Awesome show. I will be investigating them more...I'm a latecomer to them, and the best stuff were the songs I didn't know. New album is enjoyable, but seems kind of lightweight compared to their live sound. Thank you, Rick's keys.

Great show, but I thought they fucked up Love Like A Sunset by getting into that guitar jam. They skipped, literally, my favorite part of the song. Other than that... I really enjoyed the performance. Closing with 1901 was a good call.

So much fun. They have such a big sound, I can't imagine them playing venues this small for too long. It was high energy and they played so well. They rocked the house and i've never seen a more excited crowd at the Marquee than last night.

And cool! I think this is the first time I've been to the Marquee without almost getting in a fight with someone.

I just pissed all over the other Phoenix thread again.

This appears to be the first video posted from last night. 3 and a half minutes of mostly black screen, followed by 1 minute of awesomeness.

There were some annoying people near me but since Phoenix was killing it I was distracted for most of the show.

They did have a good audience last night. Everyone seemed to be very chill.

I did relocate to the right side of the venue right before Love Like A Sunset, they wouldn't shut up and kinda ruined the song. Other than that it was a good crowd.

I absolutely loved that show last night. But yes, I had multiple girls directly around me that would not shut up, multiple full blown screams throughout songs, plus I was recording so it didn't sit with me well. First time seeing Phoenix live, and will definitely catch them at Coach - pending any significant conflicts.
