I'm so glad I'm going to be out of town during part of the NASCAR invasion. I hate running into the grocery store only to find throngs of hillbillies in cutoffs and Dale tshirts buying Bud Light and hot dogs.

I had a girlfriend I worked with who's boyfriend drug her to a nascar race, she didn't want to go until I told her to make a game out of it. We created a scoring system for the people watching. 2 points for mullets, 3 points for anyone wearing a confederate flag shirt, double if its a bikini. That sort of thing. She had a blast and brought back her score card with pictures which gave us all a laugh.

Luckyman has the metric tickets up. Just purchased mine. Ticket $10 service fee $6.

Still $16 ain't bad. The Edge low dough presale hasn't started yet and their page boasts $15.50 as the all inclusive price for those shows but I figured why wait to save .50 cents.

METRIC!

Hey Jason and Dylan, not sure if this is possible with all the people you have coming with us but maybe we can leave earlier tomorrow at like 2 or 3 to get down to Tucson with more time for dinner and preshow hang out. Just a suggestion.

Tonight the Sun Devil's basketball season starts. Go Devils! Suck it, wildcats!

Mark, just go. You won't spend that much to take away from your upcoming trip. Btw, how long will your trip be?

I would Lilia but after being there last weekend and my funds down to about $20 for the next 7 days, I just can't. I leave November 24th and return back to Phoenix December 1st. I'm getting a bit excited. I pretty much have paid for everything in advance that I could and I have about an $80 a day budget for while I am there for food, alcohol, taxi rides and anything else. Then once I return I already have my December pay checks spent, my goal is to purchase my Sasquatch 10' ticket and spend the rest of my free cash in Vegas December 18th since I already got Connor Wrestlemania tickets I feel my X Mas shopping has concluded. :)

As always, anyone interested in the weekend before XMAS Vegas trip you all are welcome. Me and the roommates just plan on playing lots of poker, drinking lots of alcohol and eating at the buffets of course.

Jason, Vegasfest is March 24th -29th by the way...which means since i'm taking Connor to Wrestlmania on the 28th, i'll be doing Vegas from probably the 25th to the 27th or something. I'll keep you posted though, if I start to hear people can't make it or are backing out because life got in the way or something I might have to ditch it and go during the previous weekend for the March Madness tourney. It's an exciting time in Vegas.

sin213
11-13-2009, 05:35 PM

You guys are faggots if you leave Phoenix at 4. Dylan, get your shit done earlier so you can get your drink on with us.

Micah, ASU is gonna suck so horribly this year, I won't even take any enjoyment in it. Even if the U of A has their first season in 20 years in which they win fewer than 20 games, they'll STILL have a better season.

I really hope Jen gets tickets to this year's UA/ASU football game so I can see the Wildcats demoralize the Scum Devil fans live and in person.

Tomorrow night can't come quickly enough. I worked 50 -- count 'em, FIFTY -- hours this week. Life owes me a good weekend.

I had a really good time last night. Tom, glad you could make it out to Kon Tiki & that you and your friends apparently enjoyed it. Matt, thanks for hosting the pre-party. Good seeing the rest of you folks. I don't have any recollection of seeing anybody after the show ended (besides Lilia and her friends, who accompanied us to the Grill) and I must apologize for either not saying a proper good-bye or making it to the Buffet. That pill I took before the show began didn't kick in until AFTER Ghostland Observatory was finished, which sucked because I was peaking at the restaurant. I think some lady in a booth behind us could tell I was fucked up because she was looking at me funny. But goddamn that was amazing. :D

OH! And those 3-D glasses? :thu

The ones I use run ~$15. Etymotic ER 20s (http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.aspx), Earlove (http://www.earlove.net), etc. They don't muffle the sound, they don't block just the bass, etc. The graph of attenuation versus frequency is flat relative to what you get from the crappy foam ones.

They are available at various music instrument type stores or from their websites.

I have one pair of each of those two brands; in my ears the earlove do just enough to take the edge off; the Etymotics go a little further. But both are generally less than the foamies.

JustSteve

hearos makes a comparable pair, too. just get whatever is easiest to find/cheapest of those 3.

and when ready, customs are amazing and not too much money if they will be getting a lot of use/you don't lose them. think mine ran ~$150.

it's probably all a scam, like Rock the Bells. they didn't allow in backpacks, lighters, water bottles, etc, but they sold all of it inside. :nono

prob same deal. can't wear in your ICP stuff so that you feel more inclined to buy more. plus, they were probably going to have a face painter there to do makeup for a fee and that person couldnt make any money if everyone already had their paint on...

11-18-2009, 01:34 PM

OHHHHHHHH....ok

i get it now. that wasn't a dress code for the show...it was for congress. got it.

i would have had Rialto stamp their foreheads if attending the show or something so even if they changed clothes they still couldn't have gone in Congress.

faxman75
11-18-2009, 01:36 PM
Really? I don't buy that. None of that type of stuff went on back in the day and they made loads off of merch, that's the primary income of this group. They have loyal fans who spend loads of money on merch.

I remember hearing some craziness went on at a Tucson show back in the late 90's and helicopters came or something. I'm guessing this was more about what they think is "gang affiiation" and figured they would cut down on the violence.

I can see backpacks, lighters and water bottles but telling people they can't wear a bands merchandise is just weird.

Ok, I can't talk much more about ICP, I have to save those stories for in person laughter since it went over so well last time.

I had one of those. My friend Mike purchased it for me as a going away present when I moved to phoenix at some mall in ABQ when my Ryder Truck broke down. I was always to fat to fit in it though. I did have one of those $90 Juggalo baseball jersey's. I sold it on Ebay after owning it and wearing it like crazy for 5 years. It went for $150. I was more than happy to make a profit on a used clothing item.

The movie (Fantastic Mr. Fox) will be released here on 11/25 (day before Thanksgiving). If you want to have a meet up to see the movie I would recommend that Saturday or Sunday, the 28th or 29th. We could meet at AMC Ahwatukee or Harkins AZ Mills. Anybody else interested in a movie meet up?

I only go see a movie in the theatre maybe once a year if that. I just can't stand spending that kind of money to sit in a big room with a bunch of strangers watching a movie that I can wait 3 months for to watch in the privacy of my bedroom wearing my pajamas. Something is wrong with this story. Free Gas this morning.

Free gas Thursday morning

But you have to go downtown
November 19, 2009 9:46 AM
By Doug Murphy Ahwatukee Foothills News
It isn't in Ahwatukee Foothills, but Allstate Insurance is hosting a gas giveaway from 6-8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Circle K on the southeast corner of Third Street and Osborne Road. Drivers will be able to fill up with up to 10 gallons of unleaded gas per car/truck.

According to the press release it will be first come - first served.

Police will be directing traffic and will only allow access into the Circle K station from 3rd Street northbound. Drivers interested in obtaining free gas should plan to approach the gas station from McDowell Road, and head north on 3rd Street.

According to the press release the reason for the free gas is that Phoenix drivers are among the safest in the nation – according to the 2009 Allstate America's Best Drivers Report, which ranks cities based on the likelihood drivers will be involved in an auto collision. Phoenix is home to the safest big city drivers in the country. The free gas giveaway is Allstate’s way of saying "thank you" to Phoenix drivers.

It's nice of them to share this story but it was published at 9:46AM. Not very helpful for anyone who wanted to try and get free gas.

Whatever, dude, I was right. (I was the one who originally posited the argument. Jen took it up when I complained that nobody fucking pays attention to me when I spout wisdom.) You've been put on probation at work before for using the internet too much so continuing on with your entertainment would have been really playing with fire. Unless your company is run by monkeys, they probably can track what sites you visit and it wouldn't take them too long to figure which username you're posting as. If another board member (who I won't name out of discretion) can lose their job because of visiting the message board too much, then you sure as shit can as well for posting pics of your fellow coworkers without their consent, especially when you're writing about them in such a complimentary manner. From Urban Dictionary:

"buy bar golf mugs, tshirts and hoodies
get together with a bunch of friends and dress in your best golfing attire. prepare a list of 9 bars where each person will consume one designated drink for each of the 9 bars (preferably within walking distance of one another or get a designated driver). pass out score cards. scoring goes as follows: one stroke would be one drink, two strokes would be taking two tries to finish the drink, etc. a stroke isn't a gulp... just finish the drink right away when you start it. one can manipulate these rules. keep track of your score. after 9 bars, the one with the lowest score wins. can get interesting if the drink is really strong."

I'm going to have to go ahead and scoff.

What's the cactus for, Amy? Is it "medicinal"? "Sour deezy," Dylan? The fuck? Regarding that "Micah with an 'h'" discussion a page or so ago, I tried coming up with lyrics to a song titled "Micah With an H" sung to the tune of "Jenny From the Block" but couldn't come up with a good enough rhyme for "I'm still, I'm still Micah with an H." "Weird" Al Yankovich has a tougher job than one would be lead to believe. Did I end the quotations at the right point on "Weird" Al's name, or is it "Weird Al"? I got to leave work early today because I did my job correctly all last month, earning me 4 hours of PTO. I was already at ~44 hours for the week at the beginning of the day, and I left after ~4.5 hours today, so even though I won't get the time and a half, it's still gravy and I got to start drinking early (40 of Blue Moon, holla!) and get a haircut. Add those hours to the 50 I worked last week and the however-many I'll work tomorrow (which I don't mind since I won't be on the phone and thus won't be interrupted when I'm trying to get shit done) and I'm looking at a mighty fine check next Friday. Mighty fine indeed.

40 oz of Blue Moon? Nice one, Rick.

It completely derailed my plans for the evening. Instead of going out and networking and being productive with my Friday night, I'm staying in and getting drunk and doing absolute shit.

So how was Royskopp? Wait, don't tell me or I'll hate you if you say they were awesome. I fucking left work at 7:17 on Wednesday; I wouldn't have even gotten to the show on time if it was in Phoenix.

And I don't know if it was an actual 40 ounces of Blue Moon, but it was big and it was potent. Kind of like me.

I need to be out of my house this weekend. Going to look at some rentals in the Gilbert/Mesa/Chandler area on Tuesday. There's one in Sun Lakes that's cheaper than all the rest and looks much nicer/bigger. I hate gated communities, but I guess I can live in one for six months or so.

Anyway, where the fuck is San Tan Valley? There's a huge house there with pretty cheap rent, but Google Maps has never heard of the city or the street. Supposedly, everything the realtor sent us to look at was within 10 miles of my wife's new job, but this sounds like it would be way the hell out of the way.

the San Tan freeway goes through Chandler & Gilbert. I go to San Tan Village Mall all the time.

TomAz

The whole San Tan area is a giant mormon reclamation project where they abduct children and brainwash them on the dangers of diet pepsi. then they feed them to the cactus. then they invest in an indian casino. then they inbreed.

M Sparks

Yeah, and I didn't know Sun Lakes was a retirement community.

Looks like San Tan Valley just got a zip code this summer, probably why Google Maps can't find it. Anyway, too far away. We'll pay the extra $50 a month or so and stay in Gilbert or Mesa.

I'm not sure Jason, Faxy would be the one to ask. In the Wilco documentary "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" they show Jeff playing a solo show but I can't remember what songs they showed him playing. Faxy would probably know. Or maybe you can find his past solo shows listed on one of the wilco fan sites.

Tweedy does a lot of solo shows. Just him & an acoustic. wilco stuff, new stuff, covers.

Here he is doing a cover of a song by some band that gets talked about sometimes.

Tweedy does a lot of solo shows.

Definitely a few a year, sometimes it's for a benefit and sometimes it's just to work out the new material before they head into the studio which I believe might be the case here since they have said they are trying to get another album out before the end of 2010.

I used to have several of his solo show bootlegs from the early to mid 00's but I don't know what happened to them. I have never seen him solo acoustic and there are no other solo dates scheduled so somehow we lucked the fuck out!

Jason and Micah, i'm down for either separate tickets or all together. I'm guessing buying all separate might be the easiest and since it's a Sunday show we can do drinks and football or something pre show. :D
