Default Rage @ Coachella on Hannity & Colmes

That's right the neocon propaganda network did a hit piece on Rage against the Machine on Hannity & Comes tonight. Going as far as calling them "Not a popular band" *Gasp*. They even played some footage of the now famous speech. Great stuff... check it out.

If they aren't popular then why are they doing a story on them?

those old folks don't exactly seem like the type who would know what's popular or not...but the thought of 'em even mentioning rage makes me chuckle.

What I don't understand is how Ann Coulter is still someone people want to interview and talk to. She has nothing but a reputation of saying stupid shit.

There is a major flaw in Zach's little speech. He says the current administration should be hung, tried and shot. Why hang and shoot them? Also, shouldn't there be a trial first? Isn't this why they bitch and whine about mumia abdul jabar? You can't hang them and then have the trial Zach! Jeezums

You can have a quick trial while someone is hanging. Then shoot them just to be sure.

Not that I'm advocating anyone eat spinach.

Though not that there's anything wrong with that.

No fucking way. I don't believe how much they spun what de la Rocha said. I don't believe Ann Coulter called me a loser and said people care about her opinions more than Rage Against the Machine's. I don't believe how little power Alan Colmes and that stupid Dem lady had on this show, or the argument they were making, or that they didn't defend Zack by pointing out the context of his speech.

Zack de la Rocha did NOT threaten Bush or anyone else with assassination or any other physical harm. I love how they claimed this verbally, yet the headline under said nothing of the sort. TRY telling me CNN spins stories THIS much.

Umm Zack did say they should be hung shot and tried. He said he agreed with that logic. He's done, they are going to force him to retire now.

Did you like the way they framed the debate on that show? Let's get Ann Coulter, who's a Nazi, Ted Nugent, because he's a rock star and also a redneck bigot, and a Democrat who basically agreed with the other conservatives. Wow, what a brilliant diversity of political opinion there. God, Fox News is leading this country straight to hell.

Watch Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. It's a fantastic documentary on how Fox News works, and one of the things it points out is how the conservative pundits are always forceful personalities, and the liberals are either weaselly little guys like Colmes, or centrist Dems who essentially agree with the GOP position. This piece on RATM is a textbook example of that formula.

I can't even bring myself to watch this or anything fox news or ann coulter says/does. They are so hypocritical. The lengths they go to to distort and lie to this country is disgusting. Outfoxed is a GREAT documentary. I just wish that the majority of this country would stop taking in the news that is easily fed to them and find a different source. It just seems so blatantly obvious to me how fox takes stories and twists/edits them to express their side or to make the more "liberal" side look bad. Anyone read Al Franken's book Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balance Look at the Right? I love that book.

They are going to force him to retire? Who is "they?" What the fuck are you babbling about? The promoters of Rage Against The Machine are going to put an end to Zach's career because he said something incindiery about the powers that be?

That kind of rhetoric is essentially the only reason Rage supposedly carries some kind of legitimate socio-political weight out of the rap/rock movement. I'm sure that throwing out a single sound byte guaranteed to be repeated ad nauseum on every one of the 20,000 news programs throughout the country is going to destroy the success of their comeback.

No way all that free press and attention could possibly help continue to hype them up as musical spokesmen for a bandwagon they decided to hop back on now that the wagon's already driven past the point of relevancy to foregone conclusion. Making controversial headlines has put an immediate stop to so many artists' careers: Eminem, The Dixie Chicks, Marilyn Manson... the list just goes on and on.

And he said they should be hung, tried, and shot. An equally stupid construction, with the same fucked-up past-tense of "hang." Maybe instead of just promoting focusless revolution and execution of people in power (which I'm still in favor of and everything), Rage should try writing a song called Guerrilla Read-A-Book.

It's not like it'd be hard to write the music or anything--they only use like three riffs ever, with very mild variations from song to song. I can just imagine the conversations in the studio:

TOM: So for the fourth song--whatever the fuck it is, like it matters--I was thinking about doing the chika-chika bow-wow thing twice, then switch to bow-wow, wah three times, and then just do chika-chika-chika-chika until we all go BOW WOW and go silent so you can whisper something ominmous, repeat that twice more, then back into the plan.

ZACK: That reminds me of something Che Guevara said--"more chika-bow-WAH-chika-WAH-bow, more cowbell, and no way is communism inherintly flawed and doomed to failure."
