Are you fucking kidding me?!
What an incredible show! First turntablist I've seen mix live DVD video/audio. His performance basically pwned Girl Talk into laptop-ian submission. Anyone catch him/have videos?

I caught him by accident after walking away from RHCP due to sheer boredom. I'd never heard of him, but I was really impressed. He's the surprise of the weekend for me so far.

I first saw him at a Blue Man Group concert. When we went last night to the Gobi Tent, everyone had left after Girl Talk... we walked right up to the front row! I took lots of pics/vids, will post soon.

this is driving me insane, what is the name of the song he was playing during the clips of Y Tu Mama Tambien/Team America? if anyone has a set list that'd be great too.

Un-effing-believable. From The O Face to Pee Wee to a tent-wide "Imagine" sing-a-long.
This dude OWNED it. |

Yes, he was briiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiliant!!! So much fun... got my O face O'ing with delight so many times. After seeing him kinda airing a confident side during the whole set, it was very endearing to see him genuinely taken aback by the overwhelmingly positive response at the end. I think he was floored and nearly choked up. It was great to see that reaction after he floored me and so many others in the audience, and wonderful to return that sentiment to him. He certainly deserved it.

I've uploaded some videos/pics I took from Mike Relm, Interpol, Cornelius, DJ Shadow (the videos are huge, currently uploading a ZIP archive of about 200MB for Mike Relm)...

I brought up the notion of VJ's at coachella a couple years ago on this board and basically got laughed at.

The only negative thing about his show was that it made me want to just give up as a DJ. Talk about revolutionary vs. evolutionary...

I loved how he VJ'd the Outfield's 'Your Love' with NWA, while Trainspotting and Team America showed visually. Loved the intermission when he had the different facts on production cards, and the last one saying "1924 -Time Magazine Man of the Year - Adolf Hitler " "2004 - Time Magazine Man of the Year - George W. Bush" best show of the entire weekend..

He was awesome. We waited for him to start, then watched as the crowd around us grew and grew. It was great! He used to DJ for Peeping Tom, but he obviously does far better by himself.

this guy, among a handful of others this weekend, took my breath away. never heard of him before, but how can you go wrong with softcore porn and a ratm cut up?
I saw alot of button pushing, birthday party bull$hit this weekend, and this was not one of them, and also this is a run on sentance. plus, he was a handsomely dressed young man. |

The Rage video tease was INSANE! I agree with whoever said he put an incredible amount of thought into his show. The amount of coordination and forethought a set like that takes is pretty crazy - cheers to a DJ that actually crafts a set before hand instead of relying on their ability to mix and a few worn-out mixer effects.
Relm took it to another level completely. |

If I had a spare $2500 lying around I would so buy a pioneer DVJ. Those things are insane amounts of fun.
You guys can go to your local Guitar Center check one out if you want to try DVD scratching. It would take shitloads of practice and preparation to do what Relm does (not to mention all the audio manipulation he does simultaneously), but just screwing around with one is still insane fun. |

From what I could tell, he would loop the audio of the music, set it, and then create the breakdowns/build-ups using the DVJ and scratching until it peaked and then he would drop the audio from the music back in. |

Here's the infamous O face routine, and you can hear him scratching the O face in time with the independent music track. Here's some highlights of a relm show a couple years ago. |

I had heard of Mike Relm and knew he was a dj, but didn't know much more besides that.. I was getting ready for tiesto during RCHP and because LCD Soundsystem was TOO packed to get in.. and I walked by the tent.. and I stayed for a good part of his set.. I was REALLY impressed.. It was the first DVJ set I saw..
Anyone see Cut Chemist on sunday? He ended it nicely as well.
