Sheila E(scovedo). There's a Sheena Easton, who is an entirely different person.

I did not like nor listen to Prince before tonight. I was completely overwhelmed by the performance and am totally shocked anyone could say he sucked.. The setlist was awesome, and the cover songs were crazy.

Well nobody said he sucked. He just said he wasn't that great, and I can see where he's coming from if he's seen Prince before. While it was undoubtedly a terrific show, he can do better. Anyway, I know I had a great time.

You are completely retarded RIGHT Now.
There I said it. I have not been a fan of Prince since the '80's. When I heard he was playing, I thought, "Huh, nice novelty...I'll check him out, I guess." I am sooo glad I did. Prince is definitely the greatest guitarist with a pinkie ring in the world. |

He started a little late, but still played 1 hour & 45 minutes. It was so funny seeing the stage being vacuumed with an upright vacuum cleaner during the stage preparation. That's a first for me! It's so ........gay.
OK, so the Main Stage will be renamed "The House of Prince." He was BY FAR the best act of Coachella - a mix of old, new, and re-arranged tunes. My favorites had to be 1999, Cream, Purple Rain, and Let's Go Crazy! He was so classy & not the Diva I was expecting. Finally, no background videos or light shows were needed to enhance his show. His was all about music & guitar playing, with peace & love thrown in. I'd never thought I'd say it, but thanks Golden Voice! |

It was a great show, but I wasn't a fan of all the covers. He should have just done more of his own stuff. And older stuff. Not a huge fan of the new stuff. But 1999, Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain and Lets Go Crazy were all awesome.

I agree, but I think Prince and company played well. Unfortunately the sound was awful compared to the two groups before him which sounded awesome, like the system had lost the top end and had no balls. I started getting worried when I heard his sound guy firing pink noise, that usually means he's changing the system response, and in this case, fatally!
I left early, very disappointing! |

Prince was awesome. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a maroon.

Do you mean Moron or Maroon, that's a cake isn't it?
Prince with Kraftwerk's sound man would have stole the show. |

If you want to hear what the Coachella main stage system is capable of, check out Roger Waters tonight mixed by one of the best in the business Trip Khalaf - then come back and tell me Prince sounded good!
I have seen Prince a hundred times, he's amazing, and he played well, but the sound was not up to his usual standard ... no balls and dull ... the sound man screwed up. Last edited by DougR; 04-27-2008 at 10:52 AM. |

Prince started at 11:11. Any other beleivers in 11:11 here?
Here's a Rolling Stone review on Prince's performance. It's called "Coachella Day Two: Prince Dominates With Greatest Hits, Guests, Radiohead and Beatles Covers"

Prince killed it. I knew from his introduction that he wasn't going to just go up there and play a greatest hits set. If you want to see that, just go and see him in concert.
And any set that opens with Morris Day automatically wins for me. And Sheila E was just bonus. There's nothing better than a little black man wailing on the guitar. |
