Why isn't coachella 2009 the last weekend of april? - Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival Message Board

I really quite angry that I can't go to coachella this year because my exams aren't finished yet and they usually finish right before coachella (last weekend of april). Does anyone know why they are breaking tradition this year?

AEG Live, the concert promotion company that became a partner in Coachella in 2001, is also the corporate engine these days behind the grand old New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which will be April 24-26 and April 30-May 3. Both massive events are now national (or international even) in their target audience and media coverage and for logistical reasons the decision was made to spread them out a bit."

They need to look into changing the date, they basically screw over Canadian post secondary students, way to put the even right during finals.

Your logistics regarding the other festivals are not well thought out, why would they segregate students and make the festivals dates as inconvenient as possible, because that's what they've done.

for the record, canadian undergraduate exams begin on the 17th.

you might have to miss friday, on the off chance that you have an exam on day one, but if you fly out sunday night you can still go.
it sucks, but come on, dude. I'm sorry, but I fully accept that they don't give a rat's ass about canadian college kids. I'd say that's 5-10 thousand tickets, MAYBE. they can make it up elsewhere. especially if somehow the cooler spring weather holds.

just... yeah. it sucks. I agree. but don't get all self-important.

And flying out to CA just for 1 day? Are you kidding me....I'm a 3day event person...last year I wrote my last final the day I left for Coachella....and it worked out perfectly...PERFECTLY!

hence why 24-26 would be ideal

you would still have the full week of the 27-30 before exams started for you.

this year they put them right when exams start for Canadian students just to accomodate a Jazz festival and Heritage days....WOW....who cares...
