"An album is a collection of recordings, released as a single package on gramophone record, cassette, compact disc, or via digital distribution. The word derives from the Latin word for list.[1]"

    I think you mean vinyl.

edit: or was the emphasis meant to be on the word "buy", not "album"?

I download a lot, but also buy a lot of the stuff I like. I make a point of purchasing anything that makes my top 20 of the year as a minimum.

Also, there is no option for this.

If you buy on iTunes, is that not downloading?

Correct. The fourth option should be switched to say that you both download and buy albums
    Just sayin.

The majority of records that I buy a are used. If I buy a new release its usually because I've heard the album and love the vast majority of it. Records that also include free digital downloads with purchase are the best value to buy. I just wish more labels and artists would offer the free downloads.

That doesn't even make any sense. It seems that no matter what thread I bump into you in, you're dumber than a box of rocks.

I dont buy downloads, but I'll go watch that band if I like their album. I find that to be a good compromise.

Downloads are fine for car, portable devices, and other instances. Music geeks, audiophiles & the like all of course love vinyl for its purity in sound. Most records now are being pressed on 180 gram or better vinyl. Other artists are re-releasing old albums in limited editions to the collector and audiophile market with great response in sales. Its just a matter of preference & sometimes dedication to store away & be physically motivated to put the record on the platter and drop the needle on it.

I'm sure that most bands sell their own album downloads on their home webpage as well as commercial sites to make more money. The best way I can think of supporting acts would be by buying the a download directly from their site if available.

I still buy vinyl. With over $30 000 worth of CDs in my collection, I should get a free pass on digital downloads for at least awhile. I've done my time.

The idea behind your poll question gets four and a half stars. The actual execution only gets one star.

ok, when i made the option of downloading music, i meant downloading for free off sites like soulseek, which i thought people still did. i dont understand why anybody would buy download albums over buying the CD, which most of the time is roughly the same price, so i never thought of making that an option

I download frequently and I buy records frequently. Downloading encourages my record buying, because I find things that I would probably not buy blind.

yes, but nearly all albums(at the moment anyway) are available on CD as well. so why dont you just buy the CD version?

sorry, paying to download an album is stupid

take play.com for example(very good site by the way). the majority of albums are cheaper to buy on CD than to download. if you buy the CD you can still put it on your IPOD or whatever. so i dont see the logic of paying to download it

Let me clarify: I do not pay for downloads. I download free music, and if I like it enough that I'd listen to it more than a few times, I buy it on vinyl. I don't give two shits about CDs.
