Yeah these are the stats from last year alone. Does it matter? Umm not really. Support shows for either band are festivals they played. We need the "average time for selling out each show" statistic. Radiohead wins with like an average of under 10 minutes. We could add in how fast they sold out their respective Coachella date and Radiohead destroys DM with a month in advance as to DM with 4 days before.

Wanna tell that to the family that was sitting next to me in the 2nd row when I saw them one of the nights at the Greek? Or to a lot of Radiohead fans that I know who are older and grew up around the same time Depeche Mode was the biggest act around? They are all not that young, I am in the middle for sure. Radiohead sold out 2 nights at the Hollywood Bowl in 10 minutes in 2003, thats 33,000 tickets. DM did 2 nights in L.A. at Staples in 2005 and it took a little while longer than that. And dont forget Radiohead doesnt need to charge and arm and a leg either.

I honestly think comparisons like this are odious. I love both of these bands and they're both going to end up being big and influential on their own timelines.

I agree with Jennie...I like both bands, so these comparisons are a bit silly. But, could conversations abound from it, so can't argue that!

One thing to consider though...Wouldn't you say that DM's music is more accessible to the masses than Radiohead? I hear DM much more on the radio. Doesn't make one better or worse, in my opinion. Jsut means that DM is more "pop" leaning.

Um, yeah, remember Radiohead's 2003 tour? Two Hollywood Bowl shows went on sale at the same time, and both trapped everyone in queue forever, and after 2 minutes had passed, ticketmaster was giving the sold out screen. And all those shows sold out, too, except for Wisconsin, because there was a 33,000-seat general-admission lawn behind 7,000 reserved seats (over 25,000 of those lawn tix were sold, too), and Salt Lake City, because Mormons are creeps.

Depeche Mode and Radiohead have a ticket difference of about $8.53. If we add that to Radiohead's tickets: Their Avg Gross compared to Depeche Mode is actually $365,170.

With that in mind, we will say Radiohead began in 1992 (when their first single was released) and Depeche Mode began in 1981 (release of Speak and Spell). Each year of Depeche Mode is worth $29,196. Each year of Radiohead is worth $24,344.

It, however, took Depeche Mode 11 studio albums to reach that status. It took Radiohead only 6. Therefore, by factoring in the studio albums (dividing the money a year by the number of studio albums).

Depeche Mode: $2,654
Radiohead: $4,057

Depeche Mode is worth more than Radiohead because of many studio albums and years of work. However, the way that Radiohead is moving faster and more successful than Depeche Mode could... They may easily pass them in the near future in terms of total money.
