Have you read they are currating the ATP fest in December, AND PERFORMING!!!
Perhaps does this mean that maybe next year they will be gracing Coachella with their presence?

Yeah and there's their 3rd album. Have you seen their myspace page?

I'd like to see them, but kind of think putting out an album after 10 years of not having one is kind of unnecessary. They'll either do the same thing which will be boring, or do something new, which would be better, but if they sound too different and don't sound like Portishead anymore, people won't like that either.

Very interesting news. So why weren't they an option before, despite the fact they played a show in 05 and this year? Or maybe they just hate America...

I think a Portishead set would top Daft Punk, Bjork, Radiohead, and Kraftwerk.

But this rumor goes around every year. I love it.

Psychic Friend says Portishead hates me and that's why they won't do Coachella.
At some point in time a man switches from "I'll have what he's having" to "I'll have what I'm having."

I think that a Portishead performance would have 2 outcomes. Greatest show ever or biggest disappointment ever

I think that can be said for most "reunion" tours, unfortunately.

Did Portishead ever officially "break up" though? I think they just kind of faded into obscurity for a bit.

The MySpace page is way old news. Those tracks on the page are totally different than anything they've ever done. No vocals on them, wonder if Beth is still in? Who cares if they do all their old stuff, I'd prefer it, nobody sounds like that or problably ever will. Where the hell is ATP doing a fest in the middle of winter?

I've seen them live, and I'm sure it would be the greatest show ever.

    Portishead @ Coachella 08 > Massive Attack @ Coachella 06

Also, there is a 56.87% chance of Portishead playing Coachella 08 right now.

Portishead @ Coachella 08 > all previous reunions and almost-reunions (bands that never played live or just never toured america)

How about Portishead anywhere in the western region of the U.S., that would be enough for me

I wouldn't count on Portishead playing Coachella 08 considering that I read on this board that the police, underworld, prodigy, chemical brothers, primal scream, etc. were playing and/or being added to '07.

    Just saying...

The ATP at Minehead last xmas was very badly organised, with a lot of time spent just trying to get from one stage to another. They do look after the fans though. Because the Dinosaur Jr set was so crammed full of people, a lot of fans couldn't get in to see them. The answer? They gave everyone stuck outside a ticket, and they did a ticket only 2nd performance early the next day.

Portishead should do 11 shows at the Fillmore next summer.
