Jefferson Starship plays 2 free concerts in Indio - April 18 & 19

Opening for Jefferson Starship will be the Brad Mercer Band. The shows start at 8pm. *Doors open at 7:30*

One of the most influential bands of the 60’s, Jefferson Airplane (as they were known then) put the San Francisco music scene on the map. Their hits, “Somebody to Love” and “White Rabbit” sold millions of copies and captured the attention of the nation. In 1969, the band’s avid popularity and touring schedule allowed them to perform at two of the largest music festivals of the time; Altamont and Woodstock.

By 1974, the band retooled their sound and personnel and became Jefferson Starship. Their biggest hits would include, “Miracles”, “We Built This City” and “Sara.” In January, 1996, the original Jefferson Airplane was inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

Note: I saw Starship years ago in rural New Mexico - and Grace Slick was still with them. I didn't know Starship took the "Jefferson" back in their name, even though the lineup isn't what it used to be.

airplane last year here ... its too bad about them .. they were such a part of the movement, then they sort of went south as it were .... like seeing pete best being billed as the beatles ... x****

when i saw them last year, they had this chick, looked like grace, and sounded like her ... if ya closed your eyes, yep it was like the airplane ... they did a bunch of those songs ... so i you just like music, go for sure ... i saw the airplane in the bay during the summer of love, and things change, people die which really sucks but see them if you have the chance ..x****
