Better way to get to Coachella...and back?

So, I'm planning on going next year, and I'm booking early, with hotel...but should I avoid the rental car and just call for a cab service about an hour before the festival starts...as well as the end of the night, do the same?


Or should I stick with getting a rental car...I heard parking was a nightmare for this past Coachella.

You have about 8 months to convince 4 of your friends to go with you. So, you all can rent a car.

Carpooling is a good idea, and I think it is the cheaper way to make it, but if you have money the cabs always will be your friends.

yea for sure, 6 of us rented a van for the week and it turned out to be a great idea instead of a taxi, plan early

You obviously did not see the tired, dirty, broken down people in line waiting for cabs after the festival each night.

It was like fucking Ellis Island.

Not to mention the long-ass walk to the cab/parent pick-up area. Way worse than any of the lots.

We drove 2922 miles on our road trip From Texas in a rental van with 4 people switching off driving, and camped at Coachella. Best road trip ever, we went to the Grand Canyon for a night on the way there, and Las Vegas for a night on the way back. The rental van was $500 for 8 days, and $400 in gas, but was one of the best things for the drive. We would have had way too much camping gear otherwise, and two cars would definitely suck.

we drove 1597 miles down to Coachella from Calgary in Canada. We stopped in Salt Lake City and Vegas on the way down and it was awesome. On the way back we traveled up the west coast and drove about 2226 miles. Even with getting towed in San Fran it only cost us about $1000 altogether for the drive. That was sweet. Best road trip ever. There was a small group planning to meet in vegas the day before but we totally need a bigger one next year. A coachella pre party!
