Thread: Daft Punk - we had no warning

Default Daft Punk - we had no warning

Because of YouTube people in Europe and South America knew what was coming - we had no warning.

That's the thing. I stayed in the Sahara tent during an odious set by Audio Bullies because I didn't have the strength to walk over to catch Depeche Mode (whom I'd never seen before) after the Saturday buffet of bands in the Coachella sun. I thought that Daft Punk might be a swell novelty because they hadn't performed for a long time but I wasn't really into them.

There was a curtain and the Bullies certainly were not spinning inside a pyramid of light. When that show started when that show started when that show started. It did not let up it grew crazier for what, 80 minutes? That was the best show I will ever see in my lifetime. They mixed two and three of their own songs all at once all the time absolutely enhanced by the light show with the crispest sound and killing bass ever in the Sahara tent. Plus, they're robots, so they got that going...

Please come back French (Freedom) robots. S'il vous plait. Merci bien.

Hows the footage from that recording? All the bootlegs from this performance ive seen have been rather far away which is really disappointing considering the audio bootleg is amazing.

for almost all of the DVD the quality is very good and taken from near the front. Not at all the crap thats floating around on youtube. There are a few scenes where it is a little crappier just cause better footage wasn't available, but none of the really cool parts are missed. There is also I think like 4 minutes of footage that they were not able to get at all so it is instead replaced with still images.

And the sound is a soundboard recording of the show with the video all synced. It sounds great

For the record, the audio is not a soundboard recording.

I did the same thing - went there thinking, "eh, I'm not that into them but the might be fun" - Turned out to be my favorite moment of 2006. Their performance on that stage was so great, that Madonna the next day was an even greater disappointment. I remember especially the difference in just sound quality - those robots do it right.

Do you know where it came from then? It seems too good to have been recorded by someone in the audience....

I had always heard that it was a soundboard recording. The only thing that makes it sound like it isnt is there is very quiet audience noises (which shouldnt be audible in a soundboard recording unless something onstage was mic'ed)

I know where it came from, I just don't know where the information is right now.

It was on the old message boards.

There's a crew of people that make these recordings regularly.

After beeing there and seeing them, and now watching the DVD.. I'm convinced that Daft Punk are actually aliens from another world, and have brought there music to earth!

First tier of the crowd....completely blown away. They have always been one of my favorite groups/bands and this was the first time I have ever seen them live. Absolutely amazing.
