    Default Glastonbury 2007

And the Arctic Monkeys are headlining a day!! Now the Chili Peppers doesnt look so bad.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6296489.stm

The Arctic Monkeys and Bjork are the first major acts to be confirmed for this year's Glastonbury music festival.

The Arctic Monkeys will headline the main Pyramid Stage during the event on Michael Eavis' Somerset farm in June.

"Most of the line-up's done now," Mr Eavis told BBC 6Music, adding that the "biggest band in the world" had also contacted him about performing.

But he denied it was U2 or Coldplay. "You won't know until after 1 April", when tickets go on sale, he said.

Fans will be able to pre-register for tickets during February by filling in a form online or from camping shop Millets.

They will also have to submit a photograph, which will be printed on their tickets in an attempt to beat touts.

"That's called pre-registration exercise," Mr Eavis said. "From 1 April at 9am, the phone lines open for ticket sales.

"The first 150,000 people that come through that will be booked in. We'll already have the information on those people, their pre-registration forms and photos, so they can't sell those tickets on."

Co-organiser Emily Eavis told the BBC News website: "We're absolutely thrilled to be able to put Bjork and the Arctic Monkeys on because both are firm favourites in our household.

"The Arctic Monkeys have never done it so this will be their first year and Bjork has done the festival a few times now and is absolutely fantastic."

No date had been set to reveal the full line-up, but it would be "in the coming months", she added. But she refused to say which nights the Arctic Monkeys and Bjork will play.

I really want to go to this, but if I'm seeing both those bands at Coachella, will I want to see them again in the UK a couple months later?

I really want to try Glastonbury; I've never been to that one. I also need a passport. argh.

Passports are easy, I got one in a few weeks last year to head to Brazil ... I was a tad amazed at how easy it was, it's probably easier if your international plans are to head to England.

pewter, when I got one 8 years ago, it was really difficult and annoying, and you could only get a passport in the basement of some downtown courthouse, but I hear you can now register for passports at any post office, so maybe it won't be so bad this year. Long lines now though because of the new rules.

Also, my current passport is no good because I got married 7 years ago--just to clarify.

I walked into a post office in downtown SFO around 1 pm in the afternoon ... gave them my application info and a check for like $100 (it was actually two checks, one for the passport, one to expidite delivery, I think) Left the post office at 1:10.

Two weeks later ... passport arrived at my house.

Then had to send the passport away for the Brazilian travel visa ... which took a week.

I expected enormous headaches ... pleasantly surprised there were none.

Now, about United losing my luggage for the first 5 of 15 days in Brazil, that's another story.

You could spend the whole weekend at Glasto without ever going anywhere near the main stages or in fact going to sleep. All the real action is away from that same old same old stuff don't you know.

it must be the rolling stones....no other possibility. unless Mr. Eavis doesn't know who the biggest band in the world is.

glad i'm not gonna be able to go.

It could be a play on words. Maybe by biggest band in the world, he means, like a band full of really fat people. Are all the Fat Boys still alive?

I thought headliners are The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, and The Who.

The Who sounds feasible for "biggest band in the world" too. I was told that the Killers were offered a headlining spot last year but declined due to lack of material and took a normal slot, so if they headlined this year I wouldnt be surprised.

I read that the "biggest band in the world" contacted him yes, but that they aren't headlining and that the "biggest band in the world" were the chili peppers lol. That's what i gathered from surfing the Glasto boards.
