El Rey vs Trubadour

I want to drive out to see CWK in February, curious what venue would be better, never been to either of the two. I'm leaning towards the Trubadour only because its on a Thursday.

They are good for different reasons. Troubadour is only like 320 capacity, so it's really intimate, but its not nearly as nice as the El Rey, which is bigger and sounds better I think. I like both though.

I like both, The Troub is tiny and you could just stand by the bar and not feel so far away watching. I really like the El Rey though since more shows have been popping up there in the last couple years and its nice and sounds good.

the size of the venue is the biggest difference. when shows sell out at the troubador, people are packed in like sardines. very hard to get to the bar or bathroom or anywhere.

Well they just moved around some lighting there and it has helped immensely. I found this out this past weekend so I was pleased. My long shutter photos rock now!!

My pick would be the Troubadour over the El Rey but I have only been to the El Ray once and it was about 4 years ago. And I like smaller venues, generally.

i like the Troubadour because of its small size... being 2 or 3 people from the stage is pretty standard during a show.

The Troubadour is my favorite venue. The El Rey has really improved however, and they have gotten some great shows.
My question: CWK?

The Troubador is cool, as is the EL Rey. I REALLY like Spaceland, the Greek THeatre, the Hollywood Bowl and Safari Sams.

CWK=Cold War Kids. Both shows are sold out now.

Bummer, both sold out. They were good, if a little mobbed, at the Silverlake Lounge last month.

The El Rey used to be THE place for shows. Now the Troubadour and The Knitting Factory kick its ass.

The Knitting Factory has HORRIBLE shows. It is a good venue but they book crappy bands.

Sometimes they get awesome shit like the Album Leaf and The Books. But lately, Troub and El Rey have been getting the best shows.

I really like the Echo and Spaceland as well, but Troub and El Rey are both kickass
