I read through the comments on the Slicing Up Eyeballs FB post announcing the death, saw this is in the comments.

UPDATE July 12, 1:02 a.m: Andy Schwartz, New York Rocker Magazine publisher and formerly of Epic Records, is confirming the news. “It is with sadness and regret that I report the passing of TOM ERDELYI a/k/a TOMMY RAMONE who died at 12:15 p.m. today (7.11.2014) at his home in Ridgewood, Queens. He was 65 and had been in hospice care following treatment for cancer of the bile duct.”
And apparently the Ramones FB page announced it too. Unfortunately, I think it's the real deal

I was fortunate to see all of the original Ramones perform at Lolla '96. Despite the 105 degree heat, that day kicked some serious ass. RIP original Punk Rockers.

I'm gonna listen to all three original Ramones albums tonight. They're all a part of history now. It's weird, as the music is still so vital.

All the 90's Ramones gigs were the CJ & Marky lineup. And I'm still jealous.

I met Tommy when he did a Amoeba Hollywood book signing in April 2012 with Johnny's widow.

I saw them in 1992 in our college auditorium. It was a dream come true.

    RIP, Tommy.

I saw them in 95 at Nautica stage in Cleveland for the Adios Amigos tour. I was 17 and so was my good friend. We lied to our parents and said we were spending the night at each others house. Stold the family car and booked it to Cleveland. We got busted and grounded but it was well worth the punishment.
Gone but never forgotten, long live the Ramones.

Growing up being heavily into punk rock all of my friends loved the ramones...I basically hated them. unless we were listening to a live album.

after watching the gabba gabba heys and seeing how much fun the ramones music was live got me to stop talking shit about them.
Mad respect for Tommy and the rest of the OG ramones. loved his radio show on Faction, he truly played some great tunes that would otherwise never get played.

Tommy's right hand pretty much invented punk rock drumming. I saw them at Lolla 96 as well. They were like the 3rd band on the bill and played before Rancid I think. Didn't get to see Tommy unfortunately.

Sad that there was a bit of local news that covered this piece up, and I just now realized the Ramones are totally gone. RIP, brother!

I met Tommy at a radio thing I did in Santiago, Chile with my bf at the time and his band. It was really cool to watch him jump in and play some songs, learn other songs and just joke around. He was super sweet, and didn't act his age at all- he was mesmerizing that way. It was like watching a character- he was Tommy Ramone, and no one else. I don't know if it was a schtick, but when it was just us in the back hanging out, he smiled the whole time, danced when he poured his drink, and just exuded this rock and roll vibe. Truly cool. Thanks for the memory, Tommy!
