Thread: Bridge School Benefit 2014

    Default Bridge School Benefit 2014

The Bridge School Benefit will be happening October 25th and 26th 2014.

Line-up usually drops within the first ten days of September and has been about 12 to 13 acts long for the past four years. Anyone have any prediction as to who will be on the line-up this year?

Neil Young and Jack White as headliner is my bet

And the last year or two has only been 10 acts

    10/2 - Elton John - SAP Center
    10/3-10/5 - Hardly Strictly Bluegrass - GGP
    10/4 - DJ Shadow + Cut Chemist - Mezzanine
    10/6 - Kasabian + Bo Ningen - Fox
    10/21 - Melvins + Le Butcherettes - GAMH
11/1 - Hard Day of the Dead - Fairplex
    4/17-4/19 - Coachella weekend 2

You are correct about last year it was 10 acts Saturday, 9 acts Sunday.

As for 2012 it was 12 acts Saturday, 11 acts Sunday as Eddie Vedder made a surprise appearance Saturday.

You don't think the probability of Jack White goes down with his August 22nd show?

I think Pearl Jam is a lock with their last date being in Denver on October 22nd.

That's actually a pretty good point, and if the line-up drops when it usually does the two won't have to co-exist so it's entirely possible.

Surprised Metric haven't done it yet.

Canadian based, can play acoustic and have covered 4 different Neil songs?

If it ends up being Jack White into Pearl Jam into Tom Petty I will be pretty pleased, but two of those three will be in the bay in August. I guess it all kind of depends on how much well known acts are left in the pool that fit the genre of bridge that have yet to play the bay this year.

It seems to me that Neil Inducts two younger generation bands in to bridge each year, they may very well be one of the two for this year, seems like it's about time.

This show is an acoustic benefit with 30 minute sets. A band having a local show has never had an effect on them being or not being on the bill. Heck, bands that aren't even on tour at the time play it. I've been to 19 of these and the lineup announcement always seems to have some surprises, but that being said, yeah Pearl Jam will be there. They haven't played since 2010. That's a long absence from them and the tour dates make it really logical.

So now that Neil and Pegi are getting a divorce does that put Bridge at risk?

I was wondering that too. At least now we won't have to hear her talk for 30 mins between every set

I really feel like the line-up is going to drop next week or later at this point. Normally something is said on the Bridge's Facebook page a day or two before and the last post was from July 27th. Normally it comes out at 10AM so we will soon see I guess :/.

Bridge confirmed to still be on via Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SupportBridgeSchool

Now it's just a matter of when the line-up will be released and who is on it.

I'd assume so. I think the last couple of years they had 10 per day and that list makes 8

It's likely, but Bridge has had a few years with as few as five acts, so eight is not an impossibility.

    That's the boat I'm in.

Less than thrilled with the line-up but willing to go for the price.
