Hmmm, a few things are different this year...

Not to be a party pooper for the teenagers, but what I most enjoyed from my past Coachella experiences was that it was so calm and controlled. I believe this was largly due to the 18 and over rule.
At other festivals there are drunk/drugged kids who are not just an eyesore, but also a heartbreak, and nuisance. I cannot enjoy myself knowing a 14 year old girl is lost because she was slipped something or more likely, looking for it. I may have gotten my start on festivals at that age, but always remember the chaos of it, and do not miss it at all.
This year all ages are welcome. I am concerned that the lovely polo field will be tragically littered and the festival potential will be compromised.


On a side note.. I have not seen any sign of VIP tickets (so as to minimize the whole teen scene) is that happening this year?!

sorry to sound so rude or high and mighty.. I just REALLY liked the age thing. Maybe that's why it's so expensive. to keep out the riff raff. hmm.

there is no age limit on the actual coachella festival (been this way since the beginning in 1999 I believe). the 18 and over rule is strictly for the onsite camping only

Yeah - Coachella is an all ages festival. You have to be over 18 to camp, and over 21 to get into the drinking areas.

Most of the annoying teenagers were in the VIP area....you're right. Screaming, yelping and getting excited about everyone. I was asked for an autograph by a bunch of kids there once. I have no idea who they thought I was. Must be my british accent I guess. I signed a squiggle, had a photo taken, and off they went.

ok. good to have that cleared up. I was seriously concerned, because I remember there not being so many teens last year, and somehow associated it with the 18 & over rule from the camping site. wooo. what a relief.

still, anyone know if there are vip tix this year? just wondering.

Coachella has alwasy been all ages, camping has always been 18+. You're confused. They used to only let 5 and under in free and they raised that age to 12, which was very nice of them. Although I look 12, I don't think they'd let me in for free. dangit!

Oh and yes, there are always VIP tix. You have to get them directly through goldenvoice though, or when they anounce them thru ticketmaster.

American Express Black Card. You can only get that card if you spend $100,000 in a calendar year on your current AMEX card. Then you will find out how to get VIP.Happy spending, which means see ya next year in VIP....
