Simple, really. Whitney Houston had a great voice. So did Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin. Sade is good. Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan, Fiona Apple, Bjork, Tina Turner, Grace Slick, Dolly Parton, and even Kelly Clark all have great voices.
I was not impressed by Lana Del Rey, and still don't see what all of the fuss is about.
They heard me singing and they told me to STOP.

i am enjoying this story unfolding. Lana is a pretentious twerp

Since the advent of the internet it seems now everyone must care about everything...and let their shitty opinion on it be known. I miss the good old days when anonymous opinions were not really a thing. You had friends, family, co workers and that's about it. That was manageable.
You're not that old Steve. Unless you are one of the last people to ever get on internet.
This is all it was in '96, still wasn't a daily thing for me, probably didn't become so until the late 90's/early 00's:
Yes, only 100,000 websites.Google.com didn’t exist yet.
In January 1996 there were only 100,000 websites, compared to more than 160 million in 2008.
The web browser of choice was Netscape Navigator, followed by Microsoft Internet Explorer as a distant second (Microsoft launched IE 3 in 1996).
Most people used dial-up Internet connections with mighty speeds ranging from 28.8Kbps to 33.6Kbps. Highly modern 56Kbps modems would arrive in 1997.
People had only recently started to switch from 640×480 to 800×600 screen resolutions.

I would love to hear these stories. Feel free to send them my way. I have no doubts that she is self centered or anything. This op-ed puts it much better than I could.
