I can think of maybe two board members that would disagree with this.

The grossest thing I saw was how small the crowd for Pet Shop Boys was. MAAAAAYBE 100 people. Afghan Whigs were also hurting.

"Maketh the sign of the devil horns with thine hands.
Let there be high-fiving, and the hugging of many bros."

    LOL......nice one Bourdain

All of the popular EDM "cheese" that people are talking about has been around for a while. 20 years ago, it would all have been exclusive to gay clubs. Sorry, but Calvin Harris might as well be Rupaul. It is even better that sweaty bros like to hug it out to music that Cher or Madonna basically made in the 90's. Totally repressed homoerotic behavior that needs to be tempered by displays of douche-bag macho behavior as a cover up.

But yeah....they got the good drugs, so let em stay.

this is logical but misplaced. "Crappy easy listening rock bands" are not nearly the scourge that the EDM cheese is. By which I mean there's not nearly as many of them at Coachella as there are shitty DJs.

    And,

I'm tired of Neutral Milk Hotel fans quietly playing their music in the campgrounds until 10pm and then going to sleep. Fucking ruins it for the rest of us.

Looking at the lineup, I counted more guitar acts I disliked than DJs. but I might be more aware of bad rock bands than bad EDM acts.

here is a steaming turd of blandness coming to a starbucks near you, courtesy of our friends Coldplay and Avicii.
I am fairly certain the cheese bubble has popped, this is like some shit your mom would listen to.

I'm serious though. if you're going to exclude one, you might as well do the other.

And again, like someone else said, no one is disagreeing that shitty bubblegum so-called "rock" bands need to leave too.

I'm all in favor of EDM cheese. The bros have left my beloved punk rock for the Sahara.

They should be like 8-9pm band perhaps. A good way to get your night going. I didn't really enjoy seeing them close at Coachella to be honest and I'm a big fan.

I wholeheartedly agree, but there is a differnce from my perspective. Cheezy EDM is just an annoying thing with annoying people I try to avoid. Coldplay is an evil thing with evil people who must be eradicated.

You gotta give Coldplay some credit though, what other band on this level has been able to repeatedly top themselves in awfulness with each newly released song?

    edit: Aerosmith comes to mind.

People don't like Coldplay? They must have "sold out", as the experts often like to say.

I think they just "sucked from the beginning," as the keen listeners say.

After Coachella 2004 I made a "joke" on this very message board (well, on the old board, that is) that Coldplay should headline 2005.

    Boy did I feel dumb.

So when the 2005 headliners were announced I went on my rampage.. they're tepid vapid crap, a bag of hot air, worthless pap .. etc etc. BOY DID I PISS SOME PEOPLE OFF.

Funny thing is, 2004 was still back during the "good" Coldplay. Just when I thought they couldn't get worse than "Paradise", they put out that new AVICII shit.

...those fuckers are overdue to headline again, aren't they?
