Default Traffic on I-10 leaving is a nightmare

I-10 going West towards LA was bumper to bumper...I hopped off at Washington. As far as I could see traffic looked bad for anyone trying to catch a flight

A heads up anyone going weekend 2 - If you have a flight on Monday next week plan for A LOT of extra drive time

Yikes! We packed up on Sunday around 5, moved our car to day parking and left a little early and breezed home. 140 miles home at 2am. Not bad. We'll definitely do the same thing next year.

Looks like the 111 might be somewhat better right now

We left at 11am and it was bumper to bumper for a good 40 miles. There were a couple of minor accidents along the way. Stay in the far right lane as much as possible. It moves better than the left lane.

Anyone ever taken the 74? It's a single lane and kind of loops down south for a bit but meets up with the 215 eventually. I'd rather try that than sit in traffic for hours.

    Something like this:

Traffic moved but what was normally a two hour trip when it's clear was three hours. I've done the 74 before. It won't save you any time.

We left the campgrounds by 8:05, got breakfast, left there (a Mimi's in Rancho Mirage) at 10am, and got home in Hollyweird around 12:30p. That was on par with last couple of times I have camped.

Yep I-10 was pretty terrible. Left Rancho Mirage at 11:20 AM and got to Century City right around 3:00 PM, first 40-50 miles were bumper to bumper then got bumper to bumper again about 10 miles from downtown.

They also randomly closed the freeway at one point so a state trooper could escort someone to the other side of the freeway from an accident, and that added 10-15 mins.

Glad I hit the pool yesterday and left at 6:30. I ended up missing all traffic and was home in under 2 hours.

Took us 5 hours to get into LA. A total nightmare.

We left La Quinta at 10 to make it to my 3:30 flight and it took us 3 hours just to get to Palm Springs. I ended up canceling my flight. I guess I should've thought about that in advance.

This Year traffic was horrible!. left the grounds around 10 am, ditch campsite traffic by going around and took Monroe, but the I 10 west was a nightmare!, it took me over 3 hours to get to the south bay/lax area, oh yea plus dropping 2 people riding with me, add more time. so yea, plan ahead if you have a fly leaving LAX. I will definably consider to leave much earlier next year

left around noon and didn't get back to LA for over 3 hours... tons of accidents. at least this year there wasn't a dust storm on the freeway. my friend took 111 and it was def a better move.

Left around 10:45 AM. Tuned in to traffic reports on 1070 AM (every ten minutes on the fives, :05, :15 :25, etc) and heard that an accident on the West 91 had 4 lanes closed, which meant many folks would be using the West 60 to bypass that. Once we passed Banning on the West 10 it was fine, but there was scheduled construction and a couple of accidents on the West 10 through San Bernardino/Rancho Cucamonga, so I opted for the 210 West, South on the 605, and West on the 60 to the 10. No slowing until we passed the East L.A. Interchange. Got to West L.A. around 1:20 PM. Not too bad.

I got In-N-Out for the first time on Monday, right off of Bob Hope BLVD. Holy shit. It took us an hour to get our food and Party Boy (my friend Nate) ended up missing his plane due to it. That whole drive back to LA was horrible

anyone with a flight on Monday - better off leaving Sunday night and getting a hotel near the airport than hoping you'll get there on time.

friend left to Riverside last Sunday...she couldn't take the traffic and turned around in banning..

I took the 74 route I posted about earlier. It was a little curvy going up and down the mountains, but you go through a lovely bit of forest then through Hemet where it hits the 215 and then up to your choice of freeways. No traffic at all and took a little under three hours total.

The 10 sucks right now too.

Should we just use this thread whenever we find traffic on the 10 fwy?

This is the first year I can remember where there was actually enough traffic on the I-10 to cause slowing, and it was bumper to bumper all the way out of the Coachella valley--it didn't clear up really until the 60 split. Left at 10:30, didn't get to Torrance till after 2. (Usually takes about 2 hours in the middle of the day)

I said F it this morning and have been laying in my hotel room bed in Banning all day. Only time I've gotten up is to pee and to go the the KFC buffet. Oh, and to shower for an hour.

You should pee in the KFC buffet and skip the shower.
