We were actually devastated at how unhelpful Coachella's volunteers were on average (although a couple were quite excellent) for about a hundred different reasons, including refusing us ADA passes after we had gotten to the festival on Sunday initially despite three e-mails (two from Coachella and one from ADA directly) saying her situation qualified her for an ADA pass, which was the only reason we came in on Sunday in the first place. Additionally, when we were struggling getting her wheelchair across the tanbark paths of the Red Path, we were refused by two pedicap drivers saying they were two tired (!) and then a third dropped us off only half as far as we wanted to go and charged us $40. It was the first time I've been so disillusioned for what is normally a top-notch festival.

It was a really bizarre situation. About 8-9 large scale black screws (I guess is more accurate than a nail) were scattered around the walking path of the complex we rented a home in, screw side up. Another guy stepped on one the night before but he had a chunky sneaker on so it didn't get to his foot. My girlfriend was wearing flats Saturday morning and one went clear through.
Jesus Christ man, this is terrible - I'm sorry to hear the staff was so apathetic, but at least you guys made the best of it.

I was fortunate enough to get front row spots for all my favorite acts this year... My first time seeing each band except Arcade Fire. This was my 12th Coachella and I've never spent this much time on the Outdoor Stage before. It was worth the sunburn

My top 5 in order of appearance:

The Replacements - This set was exactly what I wanted from them, with just the right amount of sloppiness... reviews have noted the small crowd but everyone there seemed to love it. They saved their best known songs for last and it was moving to hear Paul Westerberg sound much as he did on record ~30 years ago

Foxygen - I was aware of their reputation for live craziness and they didn't disappoint. The backup singers were a nice touch... and in spite of their lo-fi origins and the comment about not being grownup musicians they're really talented performers and songwriters, not just coasting on novelty lyrics and antics

J Roddy Walston and the Business - so glad I showed up early for this awesome southern rock band, by far my favorite act that was mostly unfamiliar to me when the lineup was announced. For weekend 2 people who like pure rock n roll shows I can't recommend them highly enough. The crowd started small then grew with each song and everyone left happy

Neutral Milk Hotel - A band that has been so important to me since high school... I saw Jeff Mangum's set 2 years ago and loved it but for this I had a better spot and state of mind. The sunset lighting and no camera policy really helped as in 2012. 'Grown men were weeping' literally... It was also great to hear Carrot Flowers 2 ('I love you Jesus Christ') on Palm Sunday with a backdrop of palm trees

Arcade Fire - I wasn't technically at the front row of the main stage, but I was at the rail behind the platform where the reflecting man, Regine, and finally the whole band appeared... an amazing surprise to end the weekend. It was my 6th time seeing them (first since Reflektor) and they were great as always. Debbie Harry's appearance and the closing songs ('Here Comes the Night Time' and 'Wake Up'). I also have to add that the crowd in that section were some of the happiest, friendliest, singing and dancingest people I've ever been around at Coachella

I have too many honorable mentions to mention, somewhat to my surprise this was one of my favorite years yet

Reviewers who note the size of the crowd are dumb fucks.

    1. The Knife - never heard them before but checked them out on a friend's advice and I was blown away. Making it even better was having a dance party with Diddy who was out in the crowd goin' just as hard as anyone.
    2. Courtney Barnett - Avant Gardener has been my favorite song for about the past 6 months. Was super excited for this set and she exceeded my expectations.
    3. Fishbone (in the Heineken House playing for maybe 50 people) - Awesome surprise as I arrived a little too late to catch their main stage set.
    4. Grouplove - Friday started off a little slow but this set got me goin'
    5. Queens of the Stone Age - So much better live than recorded

HM: Motorhead w/ Slash, Nas w/ Jay-Z, Girltalk, Beck, Chance the Rapper, Kid Cudi, Cage the Elephant, Future Islands, Preservation Hall Jazz Band (also in Heineken House)

Glad some people enjoyed Outkast. I was somewhat disappointed. And to give 2 songs to that no-talent assclown Future in the middle of your set?!?! Nas brings out Jay-Z and you got fuckin' Future!?!?

In no specific order, ranking the top 5 is hard enough:

    Fatboy Slim
    Little Dragon

I look around and see people enjoying the songs, singing the words, dancing, and having a great time - and I try my best to figure out what I am missing.
I guess I have an obsession with the front. When I plant myself there, I see some amazing acts and some I try to ignore.

    Chronological

    the Glitch Mob
    the Knife (#1)
    Darkside
    Beck
    Arcade Fire (#1a)

    Biggest surprise:

MGMT - definitely have improved the live show since last time I saw them

    Biggest disappointment:

Fatboy Slim - Unoriginal, boring, sounded like every other DJ in the Sahara. He is a talented mixer but horrible at song selection. Will not make the mistake of seeing him again.

    Muse
    John Newman
    Capitol Cities
    Lorde
Group Love tie w/Queens of the Stone Age

And Lana Del Rey was pretty good too she started out a little slow but was killing it at the end. Pretty much everyone I saw was really good. I have no complaints I really enjoyed the entire weekend. (Well aside from the crazy wind on Saturday but i didn't let it ruin my experience
