Craft beers are $10. They come in either 8, 12 or 16 oz cups. Today I had Big Whig IPA - Noble Ale Works, Hop Rod Rye - Bear Republic Brewing, Big Daddy IPA - Speakeasy Ales and Lagers and Winter IPA - Faction Brewing. The last was my favorite.

They seemed to have a good selection. About 12 taps.

They ran out of the Winter IPA and it was replaced with something else very quickly.

Craft Beer wasn't too crowded on Friday and was busier today but not really any wait to get beers, unlike the Heineken in the other beer gardens. Excellent selection. I bought 16oz beers for $10. It's a great addition to Coachella.

The Craft Beer area is a place of happiness. A calmness in the center of the storm. A sanctuary of... uh, anyway just go. Had a Bruery Oude Tart, a Millennium Falconer IPL,a Big Whig IPA, and probably a couple others. Some of us weren't walking too straight by night's end.

    Thanks for opening this thread

Where is the craft beer area located, near one of the Heineken beer gardens, main food court?

Will be attending Weekend 2 and don't want to miss a single minute of those glorious brews

Craft beer garden is located in the food court under the Yuma tent on the map.

Don't confuse the line to get into the Yuma tent with the entrance to get into the craft beer garden.

Not to beat a dead horse but the Beer Barn is probably the best addition I've seen at Coachella in the last 10 years. You will not be disappointed, it's really great.

So how's the pale ale/IPA selection?

  14. #14

While the selection posted so far is okay (and I am super glad they are doing this), Tony was quoted as stating there would be "rare" beers and "one off" beers ("that have never left the brewery before").

Did anyone happen to see any of those kinds of beers?

I don't know about one-offs but they definitely had rare beers throughout the weekend. Dogfish Head Bitches Brew was the first beer I had on Friday afternoon. They had it listed as 'ultrarare' on the chalkboard. While you occasionally see bottles, I've only ever seen it on tap once in southern california. It was already gone when I went back to get another. The comment about 12 taps is a vast understatement. There were two groups of taps and each group had at least 12 beers. And the beers in one group were totally different from beers in the other group. No repeats. I didn't count but it was more like 24-30 taps. Most of the taps were rotated and I found several new options every time I stopped by. I didn't drink a single Heineken the entire weekend and it was glorious. Best of all I never waited more than 30 seconds to buy a beer and never fought through a crowd to enter a beer garden.

This is the best thing I've read so far. And $10 for 16oz is not criminal. Very excited about this.

    I got a 7.2% IPA, 16oz, $10.

Although you are mostly right - I always asked what size I was going to get to maximise ABV to $

Faction's Pale Ale is very good, and they had it. Also Faction 2 hop collaboration.

My brain isn't functioning well enough to remember everything else that was there. Stone's Burning Rosids was there. Something from Smog City.

And to nuggz: no, I never saw any of the rare beers or one offs that have never left the brewery before.

Sculpin is my favorite. $10 for sculpin would be a decent price at a bar even. Right on coachella.

Lots and lots of IPAs, Pale Ales and the dark stuff. Golden Road Hef and lager were both stellar. Big Daddy Amber was solid.
I have been to concerts. I will go to concerts in the future.

I fucked up big time, I would have totally drank at the fest if I knew craft brew was only $10.
I didn't even go because it seemed packed and I figured it would have been stupid expensive.

I got drunk at camp every morning and only drank a beer in a heiny house during gaslamp killer before Thundercat and GZA
