    Default Trippiest Artist 2014

So I plan on getting weird, again! Who is going to be the trippiest performers at 2014? In 2010 Fever Ray and Flying Lotus were a trip sober! 2011 I stumbled upon Shpongle and happened to be hanging out with my friend Lucy....Nice!

Definitely looking forward to The Knife, Bonobo, Warpaint, Darkside, and Lucent Dossier Experience is ALWAYS a trip! Hopefully Shlohmo and Washed Out don't disappoint.

Anyways, excited to find new artist, and am interested in who you have in mind. Peace out!

To me "trippy" means psychedelic. That would definitely describe Temples.

Friends of Lucy may find Jagwar Ma to be trippy. Flatbush Zombies are two/thirds 'cid friendly. Goat and The Knife kind of trip me out personally.

I saw WASHED OUT at FYF last year and fell in Love. For sure at the top of my must see list for the weekend, definitely the perfect music to listen to if you want to chill & vibe out.

Don’t know about “Trippiest” (Coachella) 2014 Artist – I think that might be Darkside – but I hear you, including “doesn’t exactly fit the mold”. Neither does GOAT, really, but I’ll go along with including them here, too.

Mogwai’s “trippy” in sorta the same way as Godspeed You! Black Emperor. But a fuck-ton louder, of course.

I would advise stearing clear of anything of this sort. There is nothing fun about being on a head full of acid trapped in a pit of sweaty, slimy, meth bomb fueled, hormonal teenagers as they lose their collective adolescent minds all around you. Not a good head space.

Woodkid will lead you on an epic journey and leave you feeling like a champion. Darkside will take you gently down a black hole that you wont want to leave. Foxygen will give you a taste of classic psychedelia. Jagwar ma will also take you out but with a bit more energy. On the flip side, no ones mentioned Bonobo, which has always taken me good places.

Love Washed Out, too, since I first heard “Feel It All Around” in ’09.

Caught Ernest Greene and Co. in concert for the first time last fall, and it was a wonderful show (at the sweet Iron City venue in Birmingham, Al).

Also one of my favorites for Coachella this year – I expect a late afternoon/early evening set in the Gobi.

Not really all that “trippy”, though, I don’t think. “Chill” is more like it, as you say, with the brighter, “daytime” music evocative of nature from “Paracosm” along with the definitely nocturnal-sounding music of “Within and Without”.

There will be a time and place at Coachella to get blasted by, say, Mogwai (and Motorhead, if Lemmy makes it) and dance and party to the likes of Disclosure and Netsky and Desert Dwellers and Isaac Tichauer and pretty much most any DJ in the Yuma tent, and get weird with GOAT (don’t miss GOAT!) and, yes, trip out with with Darkside, Jagwar Ma, Woodkid, et al (I like WilsonFisk’s take on these acts).

But there’s also room (for me) for the sweet chill buzz of Washed Out. This will be the Purity Ring set from last year for me.

MGMT is the right answer. Their visuals will blow your mind.

IDK about MGMT, their 2010 performance was horrid and not that trippy, more poppy than anything! Couldn't stand more than a couple songs. Anyways Empire Of The Sun is a similar but better option for this year that is similar, but better than that MGMT shit.

In addition Headhunterz has cool visuals, but if I'm trippin, the music is going to kill my vibe! Bonobo and some Darkside is going to be one of the best choices for me.
