Default The Monkees (Micky/Peter/Michael) Added to Sunday!

(UPI-Los Angeles) -- The Monkees, an American pop band who had a string of Top 40 hits between 1966 and 1970, have been added to the Coachella Arts & Music Festival for Sunday, April 13th and 20th, respectively. "The recent reunion and tours, featuring original guitarist Michael Nesmith, have been tremendously successful over the past year-and-a-half throughout the United States. We are glad to finally welcome The Monkees to Coachella," stated Paul Tollet, booking agent and co-owner of Golden Voice Promotions, who was joined at the announcement with original Monkee Micky Dolenz. "We will be performing Beady Eye's 2011 album, 'Different Gear, Still Speeding' in its entirety," said Dolenz, "as long as Michael can learn all the lead guitar parts in time!" David Jones, the Monkees' primary lead vocalist, unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack two years ago. When asked if there would be any special tribute to Jones, Dolenz said, "Don't expect a hologram or anything like that, but you might expect a film clip or two. The fans demand it." Michael Nesmith will also be performing as a solo artist at this year's Stagecoach Music Festival. When contacted by New Musical Express (UK), former Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher was shocked than an American pop band from the 1960s would even try to cover Beady Eye's debut album. "There's stuff on there that we couldn't even get through live!" commented Gallagher. Original Monkee Peter Tork was unavailable for comment.
"Some people just need a hi-five in the face."
