    I can't wait.

I really was not a fan of the art last year, so I need to be satiated.

Garb, do you know of any other of Abby's work? I didn't really find much in Google Images or on her Facebook page

Holy fucking damn. This just got me so excited.

Agreed that last years art was a bit less than impressive. But the stuff from Charles Gadeken and Phillip K Smith III this year is going to be insane.

I consider myself kind of an animal collective super fan. I'm familiar with everything she's done with them, which is most of their art. You could also check out her instagram @abbyportner

I saw Animal Collective at Treasure Island in 2013, was a pretty fucking awesome show.

Also this thread has made me more excited for Coachella than anything. CANT WAIT!
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.

abby portner's done a lot of animal collective's album art, as someone said above.

the only large scale stuff i can think of is from their shows in prospect park in brooklyn over the last 5 years. here are some pictures (2011) and some more (2009). they were both very cool and had lots of moving parts, syncronized lights. it was fun. im sure there are some youtube clips out there.

I wonder if she'll be doing anything for the stages/performances? I still wish they'd made the Creator's Project a regular thing, that was awesome.

Creator's Project would have been amazing to have back.
In the Welcome Guide it mentions 'Dozens of works spread across the campground and festivals grounds'. Is that more than usual? I've never really counted, but dozens means over 24, and I don't recall ever seeing that much in a single year.

It sounds to me like they'll have more this year. Perhaps partially because of expansion to the ground, perhaps partially because they won't have the giant fucking snail moving around, taking up all the space.

    Kidding about the snail bit

Didn't seem like it worked too well last year. A lot of the art seemed sort of cheap and a little phoned in

Campgrounds: Bubble dome, arts & crafts center, Jive Joint, that big fenced in squid & shell thing, the dog swing, those poles that change colors... that's 6.

Festival: Snail, RC car sharks, T-rex, Do Lab, balloon wires, Modern House, Power Station, Mantis, Tesla Coils, the grassy knoll walkway thing, the pyramid things near Sahara.. that's 11.

Am I missing any? Not quite 'dozens' but fairly close. I guess we should be expecting more this year..

Can anyone help me find art from Studio Steel and Shrine?

After digging around a little, I found an artist that goes by Shrine who has had art installations at Coachella. Here's a couple that I got from his FB page, Shrine On

I searched 'art by shrine California' and a page came up that said he was behind art at Coachella and other events and it also linked his FB page where I just grabbed these two pics. But yeah, I guess that's him every year that there's been a shrine.

If these are all examples of what these artists have done in years past, then I can't wait to see what these artists have in store for us this year!
