No Strokes. It's an empty page titled Julian Casablancas that's been deleted, and he was miserable at Coachella regardless. Nothing to see here!

Yeah, there is a marked line for chairs, so it's not like people are camped out in lawn chairs all the way to the stage, but it's still a bitch (especially after sunset) when you try to get from stage to stage since it's like navigating a minefield.

Miiiight make it out this year, pending the line up.

And yeah, people camping out in lawnchairs were really lame. I felt like being able to walk around with tall cans of Bohemia was a pretty fair trade off though.

Except that people still sit in their fucking chairs past the chair line and nobody stops them. We should group shame them.

Replacements into Pearl Jam could be very cool. Can['t think of a better 1-2 punch I'd personally rather see in 2014.

Is Austin pretty easy to get around without a car if I stay in a hotel close to the park? I'm also hoping to check out some of the scenes of Austin.

It's pretty easy to get around for the most part. You might try and rent a bicycle while you're here to make things easier though

So I could stay with a friend in Austin for free for the weekend. Can someone tell me if it's worth it coming from California? Review would be great, if I should go weekend 1/2

I went W1 last year from the Bay Area and i loved it but only cause i gave myself other things to do like night shows/acl taping/sixth street shenanigans. Going just for the festival is just okay. If you have a free place to stay, thats a very good incentive to go and try it out.

One thing's for sure - if you go to ACL and you have an Android phone - bring it. Samsung (I think) had a serious presence there last year and doing some Samsung Galaxy-related activities early in the day scored us VIP passes every day of the festival. If they sponsor again, I will *definitely* do this again.

What kind of mischief occurs on Sixth Street?

It's like a tamer bourbon street most weekends.

Also, if you've ever been to Lollapalooza the layout is identical and because it's the same company it's run pretty much the same. Each night there are two headliners on opposite ends of the park. hour long waits in-between each act, etc. It's organized very well but if you're local it's a bitch to get to since there is no parking anywhere close and they tow like motherfuckers out here. If you got a place to stay and someone willing to drive you each day i'd do it. Lots of night shows thursday-sunday each weekend now too.

Weekend One sold out. Not really a big deal since I was looking into Weekend Two but still debating this.

Nathan, that sounds awesome. My girlfriend has a hookup for a hotel so it'll be around $30 a night but we still would have to figure out transportation unless public transit it super easy.

I'm sure you've seen this already, but:

There is no parking at Zilker Park for the ACL Festival, so take the free shuttle instead – a short hop to the park! Board at Republic Square at the corner of 4th & Guadalupe streets and you’ll be dropped off at the Festival entrance on Barton Springs Road. When you’re finished rocking, hop back on for a return trip.

The shuttles begin at Republic Square at 10AM and make their final return from the park at 11PM each day of the Festival.

I really want to see the schedule for the night shows. Some really good stuff last year:

If it sells out and you still need a pair of tickets, let me know. I have tickets for both weekends, but I am only going for one (travelling from San Diego).

I am pretty excited about this festival, mostly because I have always wanted to visit Austin for the BBQ. I plan on having a good time around town, eating lots of BBQ, and then plopping into a lawn chair with a few beers to watch some of the good under card bands. I found lots of stuff that kind of went missing from Coachella lineups - like some of the southern rock and blues / country rock.

I'm also debating on renting a car. My hotel is a bit too far for a bike ride (Omni Hotel at Southpark). Anybody else going to stay here? Maybe a car or vanpool is a good idea.

    Anybody have some BBQ suggestions?
They heard me singing and they told me to STOP.

I parked at the multi storey at the Long Center. $10 per day, it's covered parking and there were Staties working the entrance. 20mins walk from there to the festival entrance.

Paul McCartney's Dallas show that was supposed to be next week was rescheduled for the Monday after Weekend 2 of ACL. God, October is going to be insane.

This lineup would improve SO much if deadmau5 replaced Skrillex. Joel's new album is pretty fucking great in my opinion, best deadmau5 album since RAT.

Edit: I might honestly end up liking this more than RAT. Wow

I have four 3-day passes for Weekend 2 that I'm looking to possibly swap for Weekend 1. If anybody here knows someone wanting the opposite trade, let me know. I think the only major difference is that Lorde is only on Weekend 2 (why I wanted to go that weekend in the first place), but now I have a conflict.

I may end up just buying single days for Sunday Weekend 1. Probably. With Lolla having a nearly identical lineup in a lot of ways...
