Thread: Past Experiences with Safari Tent & Coachella Guest Passes

Default Past Experiences with Safari Tent & Coachella Guest Passes

Im looking for more information about what is all included with this package. I understand that you get a nice tent, and access to the VIP area as well as front of the main stage. But what else is there? When my wife & I go we usually get the VIP passes and stay at a hotel. I really want to know if the Safari Package is worth the $6500.

Anyone have past experiences with the Safari/Coachella Guest Packages They'd like to share? Pictures would be a PLUS!

I had a guest pass once, my favorite thing about it was that it granted you access to be able to slip behind the stages, so you could circumnavigate around crowds really easily. Also standing RIGHT in front of the main stage was an interesting experience, I only did it once during a daytime set--none of my friends had guest passes so if I was going to take advantage of them I had to ditch my crowd and thus didn't do it much. I think now there's even more of that--special sections at the front of every stage (the year I did it I only saw a special area at the main stage, but I could be wrong) that a guest pass will get you into. But then again, I personally enjoy putting some distance between myself and the stage so I have a wider frame of view.

tl;dr: they're pretty cool and very useful, don't know jack about the Safari area but I hear it's really nice. If I could afford it, I would do it.

I have stayed in Safari the last two years and if you can afford it, it is well worth it. There are multiple threads with the details, those will have everything you want to know. Most things have not changed over the last few years with the following two major exceptions:

Two years ago, they stopped letting you bring people back to the Safari area. If you aren't staying in Safari, you can't get in.

Last year they cut off access to side stage. You can still go behind the stages to where you catch a ride on the Safari shuttles to go to other stages or back to the tents, but no more going up on stage to watch bands play.

Artist compound is pretty boring. Lots of people mingling, not much action.

I hear you get to go on a big hunt. Cops bust a couple of people in the Sahara and you get to chase them around the polo fields at 3am .

But if you need free bottled water or a clean toilet trailer with no line, it's a quick walk around the corner from main stage. It was handy.

Nope. However I am sure that it would be fairly easy to sneak in a flask.

The rep for the safari tents informed me that as long as it not in a glass container they will no confiscate anything. I bought a tent for the weekend.

If a flight was included I could probably fake it for the weekend.

What are some of the benefits of having a artist guess (AG) pass ? Mostly interested in what free perks or comps they give you.
    Thank you in advance.

You won't get an artist pass with safari - only a guest pass.

A good hooker is cheaper than a safari tent.

I had safari in 2012 but I stayed at my own camp (every year I organize a large group spread over 14 spots, with our own cabin tents and kitchen and all, so I don't have need for housing). I DID use the showers and I hung out in the hospitality tent in the compound. There was a pool that year, too, but IDK about now. More and more perks are being stripped away each year.

It did allow all kinds of access, which was pretty awesome. Also, I'm 5'2" and really tired of getting squished and sweat on and only being able to stare at people's shoulder blades while I'm trying to enjoy the music. The separate area up front (as well as side stage/backstage) access was a godsend. Also, they will shuttle you around on golf carts behind the scenes if you so desire (I walked every time except when I had to dash from main stage to Sahara to catch an artist that already started). I recommend walking, so you can take in all the sounds as you pass each area

Enjoy it! I've been trying to buy the add-on pass again since 2013 with no luck.

I can confirm there was no pool for safari this year. Any other questions, feel free to ask!

It bugs me that in 2012 the cost for Safari went up by 1500$ but the level of access and the amenities are being reduced. There was no pool in 2011 but you had Artist access and could watch most sets from the stage. Now it's Guest pass access only. I wonder what will be different next year.
