I like Beck. And Morning Phase is not a bad album. But is it one of the year's best? I am not seeing it at all.

I like Morning Phase enough. It's a pretty record but the songs don't linger with me and even drag to a place that can become rather boring at times. Definitely not a top 10 or even top 20, but not a bad record.

A lot of similar favorites...Wig Out At Jagbags in particular has surprised me, just as Mirror Traffic did a few years back, as something I was pretty meh on the first couple of listens but then started falling in love with. Now Chartjunk and J Smoov would both rate as top 25 tracks on the year for me.
The Replacements - Bryan Ferry - Outkast - The Knife - Dum Dum Girls - Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Broken Bells - Haim - Neko Case - Jagwar Ma - Goat - Waxahatchee

Queens Of The Stone Age - Pet Shop Boys - Chvrches - Mogwai - Warpaint - Washed Out - Future Islands - Ty Seagall - Darkside - Foxygen

Beck - Neutral Milk Hotel - Superchunk - Arcade Fire - Bombino - Daughter - Surfer Blood

I listened to that album after being blown away when you added that track to the collaborative playlist. That album is fantastic. Brings to mind Shellac and Double Dagger. Totally on board.

I see they're still using the same song-naming approach.

I had no idea they were still around. Will definitely be giving that one a spin.

This should be on a lot more people's lists. So good, very reminiscent of Beat Happening which is never a bad thing. Also so heartfelt, I feel like a lot of the songs on this record could have came off as being pretentious but they didn't. The songs about her doggy can make me shed a tear

If you like Zentropy, you'd probably enjoy Quarterbacks. They're in the same universe (tour mates, Double Double Whammy label etc) as Frankie Cosmos and make similar music. It goes acoustic where Frankie goes electric, but I love it. The lyrics are great too. http://quarterbacks.bandcamp.com/

Same! Have you checked out Posse's "Soft Opening" yet? Not Beat Happening-esque or anything, but it's one of my favorite releases this year and I think you'd really dig it.
