    Default The Chipotle Thread

Apparently Chipotle is a hot button topic, so now there is a thread about it!

Discuss why it is a delicious option to grab a quick bite before a concert.

Discuss the importance of fast a fresh Mexican take out in parts of the country where they don't have actual Mexican people.

Discuss why suprefan thinks it's such a ubiquitous presence in our lives that a meal for two is the same thing as a 41% fee increase on a concert ticket.

Discuss the relevance in our society of a fast food chain having perfectly curated playlists including Radio head.

Discuss the controversy about that inability of that guy in the wheelchair to watch the people make his food. Does he deserve all that money?

    All these topics and more!

I really like Chipotle b/c it's quick and relatively cheap, you feel full after eating whatever you order, and most of the Mexican restaurants around here taste the same.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

You obviously don't go there for authenticity, it's gringo Mexicano, but I work in Glendale and there's one right near my office. I'll totally eat the shit out of it. It has vegan meat, which is nicer than the normal option which is "just eat the same shit minus the meat" vegetarian options most places have. Also, healthier options than the average real Mexican food place.
At least in *my* awesome opinion.

If youre going eat at a gringo Mexican fast food joint, Free Birds is the way to go.I like the fact I can get tons and tons of roasted garlic and lemon juice.

They added Vegan meat? Awesome because the rare occasion I do go to Chipotle I would only get the Vegetarian burrito.

I've never been to a Freebirds. The opened one up near me about a year ago or so. I should probably go check it out huh?

Double chicken, black beans, corn relish, guacamole, cheese, tortilla chips, medium spicy salsa.

My only problem with Freebirds is that they move slow as fuck.

I'd imagine there are other types of ethnic food in other parts of the country that we don't have access too.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

In terms of chain burrito places... Freebirds (not the one in IV) is much much better IMO.

When I'm dieting I love it because I can count the macro's (calories) on everything I get in my burrito/bowl, from carbs and protein down to potassium and vitamin A. They have an online nutrient calculator and all health facts on hand at every store. Doesn't hurt that it's cheap and tasty too.

Chipotle makes good, giant burritos. It is much better than the big Tex-Mex fast food places, though there are no cheap options. The giant burrito isn't a bad deal but as it is tough to save half of it I wouldn't consider it cheap.

I tried to avoid it in Phoenix because there were so many better options. There is one near work so we occasionally get lunch there; it's a fine change. There is one on my walk home from work but I've only stopped there like twice, both times were because I was hungry/annoyed/busy and had basically given up.

Much of their meat is pretty, good, though. I use a recipe similar to their barbacoa to make shredded beef. I've made a recipe based on their chicken, too. I've never made their carnitas because fuck braising pork and calling it carnitas.

There are Freebirds and Chipotle near me, and really, both are hit-and-miss because it kinda depends on who you get preparing yours.

I imagine that may be true of other locations...but either way, the lines for both are ridiculous during lunch.

For burritos I tend to favor Freebirds...Chipotle has better chips/guac.

I live in IV and no way in hell is freebirds better than chipotle. Their nachos are good but if I'm in the mood for a burrito, bowl, or taco, I'd rather go to chipotle. Fresher ingredients it seems like and a little cheaper

Yeah, I like Freebirds just fine, but Chipotle is about $1 cheaper and I love how their grilled chicken tastes.

You are standing there watching your order every step of the way. It shouldn't matter one damn who is preparing it if you aren't a pussy about asking for what you want.

What about Chronic Taco? I see it near just about every college campus. How does it stack up? Seems similar to chain-Freebirds.

Now, Free birds in IV I cannot imagine being beaten by any of these places. The quesarito is a life-staple for me. Though, I have never been there sober... So maybe I just have no idea.

that's the thing. Most ppl that go to the freebirds in IV are drunk or high so of course it's gonna taste delicious. During the day it's never busy. There's a chipotle about 10 minutes away if you bike it from IV and it's worth it.
